International Politics in the SWANA Region: Colonial Legacy, Displacement, and Humanitarian Governance
How can we better understand the forces shaping the SWANA region beyond headlines and crisis narratives?
Organized by the Renaissance Strategic Center (RSC) at the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), in academic partnership with the Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies at Birzeit University, this intensive three-week course offers a critical exploration of the historical, political, and social dynamics shaping the region today.
Through academic seminars, policy discussions, guest lectures, and field engagement in Jordan, participants will examine colonial legacies, state formation, political transformations, displacement, refugee governance, humanitarian action, localization, and Palestine's central place in regional politics.
