Araba Scott Children's Foundation provides artistic, educational and cultural activities to children aged 0-17 in St. We also provide literacy and numeracy classes for children with and without special educational needs, and/or physical disabilities. ✨THANK YOU to all 70 of you who celebrated our 12-year anniversary with us last Saturday! 💛 Your presence amongst the photos, cards, letters, food, mocktails, music and activities made the event really special - and that’s what we wanted! Well done to everyone who won a raffle prize and we want to say a massive thank you to the people who donated the prizes. Even if you didn’t win a prize, thank you and please know that collectively we raised nearly £400 and that will go directly back into the work we do with children in St. Thomas, JAMAICA! Thank you to the trustees and volunteers who helped us host the event, and the venue for having us! We are taking a short break at the moment to reflect on how we can make things better & more sustainable, which involves finding the right people to work with us. ✨Yesterday, the children played tennis for the first time! The rackets were donated by and we’re really grateful! There are 2 sisters who are promising tennis players for their first go, and 1 boy who is also very impressive. We are thinking about setting up a tennis court for them. we gave the children the task of learning the rules of tennis, because we only know about serving and hitting so far 😅

✨💛🇯🇲We’ve been working very closely with Safeguard PHMC in the U.K. to organise a team of 5 engineers to repair Catadupa Primary School and other buildings damaged by hurricane Melissa. In just 2 days, the team led by Jake Thorpe have already completed 1 of the damaged roofes and restored the rain water catchment. Water has now returned to the school, which is also being used as a shelter and community hub. Thank you team for your hard work, as well as Pastor Golding, the and Miss Vinettte for supporting the co-ordination. We’ll be moving onto new locations if time permits.

✨Yesterday, we teamed up with to deliver essential food, hygiene, clothing and water packages to communities affected by hurricane Melissa in Trelawny. With 4 vehicles driving down from St. Thomas, we were glad to hear about the toll road waiver for vehicles taking down humanitarian aid. We applied and received an email to say it was being reviewed. Long story short, our vehicles didn’t ‘qualify’ for the waiver, and the office hadn’t send a confirmation letter to us. In a crisis like this, it’s unacceptable for there to be no clarity or communication from the toll authority on waivers for everyday people trying to provide a life line and hope to those in need. Especially those who’ve taken off work and put their hand in their pockets to come together and do this. We need all vehicles carrying humanitarian aid to have the toll waived, no matter the size. ✨💛🇯🇲🚕
