Exciting Update! 🌿🌊

We're thrilled to share highlights from the inaugural workshop in our "How To Grow Sea Moss" series, a collaborative effort between Kee Farms and the Sandals Foundation! This workshop was a pivotal moment for both organisations, bringing together fisherfolks from the Oracabessa area to delve into the world of sea moss cultivation.

The session provided a comprehensive overview of sea moss and shed light on the lucrative opportunities within the industry. Participants gained insights into the step-by-step process of cultivating sea moss, learning valuable skills that serve to enhance their livelihoods.

But it wasn't just about the economic benefits. We also explored how sea moss cultivation positively impacts the environment, underscoring our commitment to sustainability and community well-being.

This initiative builds upon the longstanding relationship the Sandals Foundation has nurtured with fisherfolks in and around Oracabessa. Through this partnership with Kee Farms, we're reaffirming our dedication to empowering communities through capacity building and education.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build on this partnership and foster growth and prosperity within the Oracabessa community! 🌊🌿

We are honoured to share that our CEO, Nicholas Kee, was featured in the January 2024 edition of Vanity Fair! Kee was recognised among 17 Youth Leaders “working tirelessly to create a better future for all” with particular emphasis placed on the work he has done to advance , which charges us to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

See an excerpt of the article below:

“Thriving life below water is crucial for life to thrive above water, and SDG 14 outlines the importance of conserving and protecting our oceans. Nicholas Kee, co-founder and CEO of Kee Farms, knows this fight well...He became committed to ocean regeneration and restoration: his work involves cultivating seaweed and oysters (and, soon, sea cucumbers and seagrass), while also preserving mangroves, leading to carbon sequestration, reduced ocean acidification and increased biodiversity. His influence extends to policy advocacy, contributing to the growth of the blue economy in Jamaica.”

🎉 Celebrating our partners at the Alligator Head Foundation! 🌍🐊🌴

Congratulations to the Alligator Head Foundation, in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Coconut Industry Board, for receiving the Environmental category award at the SIDS Partnerships Awards 2023. This partnership, supported by the European Union, promotes environmental conservation and sustainable community development in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.

Together, they are implementing the 'Ridge to Reef' strategy, benefiting over 40 smallholder farmers and their communities with initiatives such as distributing 10,000 coconut, scotch bonnet pepper, and plantain sucker seedlings. This success is now being expanded to reach an additional 100 farmers and 250 associated households, as well as 5,000 farmers through knowledge sharing across the Caribbean.

Congratulations to our partners for their remarkable achievements and their commitment to a bluer, greener Caribbean!
