Just like medical school, all vet schools are not equal.
Caribbean veterinary schools do not hold global academic rankings. Instead, they are evaluated by their accreditations, which dictate a graduate's ability to practice globally. The TIER list below is based on the American Veterinary Medical Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association accreditation status, clinical success, and North American reputation.

Therefore, if you are striving to make the grades to attend vet school, these are the top two universities you want to attend.

TIER1: fully AVMA accredited.

Ross University School of Medicine & St. George's University

Then we have TIER 2: AVMA listed but not accredited.

1. St Matthew's University School of Vet Medicine (Cayman)
2. University of the West Indies School of Veterinary Medicine (Trinidad & Tobago)
3. St. Nicholas University School of Veterinary Medicine (Dominica)

Although not illegal to leave vet school and open your own practice, doing so is strongly discouraged by the wider vet community. Vet school gives you a great foundation, but learning continues. You ideally require senior vets on-site to consult or assist with difficult situations.

Just because animals do not speak our language does not excuse incompetence and ignorance that put them at risk of further harm or even death.

When our charity is established and grows, we are strongly considering offering scholarships/bursaries/grants to Jamaican pupils who would not otherwise have the financial means to apply to vet school. The thought of this warms my💜

What can i say.....

How beautiful and skilfull is this work!?

I am so happy this stage is almost at an end. Not only has it been very expensive, it has taken much valuable time. However, i would choose the expensive route everytime over the much cheaper option.

Whilst we don't yet have much support on social media, i guess the upside of that is we will have a nice organised quiet clinic without the fake drama 😁

We must be at least fifteen feet below ground level now at the top of the land (what i have always refererred to as 'top of the world', when sitting up there watching the sea. The mid and lower section has been started.

Why didn't we build on the rock?
It wasn't the aesthetic look we were aiming for, and I don't want anyone climbing a million steps with animals including myself. I want an inclusive build where even a wheelchair user can access.

Whilst flat land would have meant the build would already be underway, we would not have that amazing view.
