Through targeted programs and interactive community education we want to set important precedents which will help our efforts in creating an environment conducive to positive community relations. We acknowledge the importance of thinking ‘Outside the Box’ in terms of achieving our goals. So in addition to our stated mission, we also encourage involvement in physical & cultural activities as a way to promote healthy lifestyles, balance and perspective and increased social responsibility. Via interactive workshops, seminars, field trips, and the creation of an online community presence, we want to positively influence the lives of persons particularly our Youth, some from highly vulnerable circumstances within the LGBTQI community, particularly those whom have been isolated and silenced by the restrictions of society’s gender norms, stigmatization and socialization. Our flagship project was the ‘SEISMIC!’ Program which was our second endeavor since our launch in 2010, the first being a series of mentorship training workshops for LBT persons which later morphed into said ‘SEISMIC!’ Program. ‘SEISMIC!’ is a social engagement program providing Psycho-social and Enterprise Development skills training services for LGBTQ youth. We have started the process of equipping them to better understand what they can do to improve their quality of life in a supportive environment. The program covered areas such as Self Esteem, Gender Identity/Gender Expression, Self management, Effective Communication, Hormone Replacement Therapy, Female sexual health issues, Mental health, Work place skills and Enterprise development. By creating a Safe Zone we want to positively influence the lives of all in our community; particularly survivors of isolation or those silenced by society’s restrictive gender norms and stigmatization.
