Planting ginger? 🫚 Timing and soil conditions matter more than you may think.

Ginger thrives in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil and requires careful moisture management; too much water can lead to rot, while too little can hurt plant development.

Our new Ginger Crop Calendar provides guidance on planting, crop management, and harvesting to help optimize your production throughout the year.

Visit our Project Resource page (link in bio) to explore the full calendar and plan your next crop cycle!

From seed to sauce, a more resilient, market-ready hot pepper value chain is taking shape in Dominica. 🌶️

Through the Sustainable Agriculture in the Caribbean (SAC) Project, the Kalinago Child Support Foundation (KCSF) is expanding beyond production into agro-processing—unlocking new income opportunities and reducing post-harvest losses.

The launch of their first locally produced hot pepper sauce marks an important step forward for Kalinago Territory: adding value to local markets, strengthening market access, and growing economic opportunity.

This progress is driven by community leadership—especially women and youth—and supported through partnerships with DEXIA and the Ministry of Agriculture. By strengthening every stage of the value chain—from farm to table—the foundation is being laid for a more competitive and sustainable agriculture sector in Dominica.

Just like Kalinago's new sauce bottles, the future of hot pepper production in Dominica is bold, vibrant, and full of potential.
