We're proud to welcome a new addition to. Downtown Kingston Art District! "Three Little Birds", is a stunning new mural donated by 2025 RCA graduates Xavier Laurent Leopold (MA Contemporary Art Practice) and Alissa Roach (MA Writing), created as part of our open air gallery on Water Lane.

This piece was born from an RCA BLK residency at Orange Park, the former estate of the late Barrington Watson, the first Black student to study at the RCA. It's a beautiful full-circle moment, and the second year RCA graduates have travelled to his former home to create.

The mural blends Xavier's wing motif, migration, weight, and transcendence, with Alissa's breeze block form, an architectural element rooted in Caribbean design and ideas of home. Openings in the wing frame fragments of the surrounding landscape, echoing the mountains of Orange Park where it all began.

At Kingston Creative, this is exactly the kind of work we exist to champion: art that connects diaspora talent to home, and creatives whose stories help shape Downtown Kingston's identity.

What does a mural actually do for your city? Way more than you think. πŸ‘‡
We put together a breakdown of the real, measurable impact of public murals β€” and the numbers might surprise you.

Here's what the research shows:
🎨 Jobs β€” Local artists gain internationally exportable skills. Our muralists have taken commissions to CuraΓ§ao, Haiti, St. Vincent, and beyond.
πŸ“Έ Tourism β€” Iconic murals become destination branding. Visitors come. Media and Cultural Tourism revenue follows.
πŸ’° Business revenue β€” Studies show murals can drive local business revenues up by as much as 50%.
🎬 Film & media β€” Mural walls are sought-after locations for music videos, films, and commercial shoots β€” using the IP to generate income for the surrounding area.
πŸ™οΈ Urban Revitalisation β€” A neglected space becomes a gathering place. Events take place. Business relocate and investment follows.
🀝 Partnerships β€” Municipalities, embassies, NGOs, foundations, and businesses all rally around a mural. It creates a coalition where none existed before and is a great way to showcase culture.
πŸ”’ Safety β€” University of Pennsylvania research found daytime crime dropped by 42% in areas where murals went up, with effects lasting up to 7 years. Nighttime property crime dropped by 40%.
😊 Wellbeing β€” Public art reduces stress, lifts mood, and encourages outdoor social activity and in-person gathering.

If your organisation, business, or community has a wall β€” it's an opportunity waiting to happen. Kingston Creative has delivered 123+ murals across Jamaica and the Caribbean. We manage everything: Open calls, artist selection, curation, design, ex*****on, community engagement, and launch.

Nearly 400 feet of colour, culture, history, and community pride now lives permanently in Calliaqua, St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Commissioned by Rainforest Caribbean and implemented by Kingston Creative, this landmark public mural celebrates the heroes, creatives, athletes, and everyday people who shape Vincentian identity. Created by lead artist Anthony β€˜Taoszen’ Smith alongside Vincentian artists Carlique Craigg, Christine Browne, JulaΓ© Ross, and Kristopher Simmons, the mural stands as one of the largest public artworks in the Eastern Caribbean.
