outh was formed in 2008 out of a vision by one young person who could not ignore the urge to support the cause of cancer research and the hope of finding a cure. She felt the need to join the fight against cancer by aligning with the Jamaica Cancer Society and participating in the organization’s yearly fundraiser, “Relay for Life”. She then shared the vision with other young persons, and the fire caught on. After months of annoying a seventy-three member mailing list, only twenty persons responded to the call. Finally a team was formed that would find them participating in the Jamaica Cancer Society’s Relay for Life 2008. The team members share one thing in common; most have been acquainted with persons who have lost their battle with cancer, and some who are still fighting this horrible disease. Cancer Conscious Youth has participated in Relay for Life every year since 2008 and the team has grown in numbers and has been able to strengthen their contribution made to the Jamaica Cancer Society each year. The message of Cancer Conscious Youth is very simple….Young people can make a difference – don’t wait until cancer invades your home, play your part…FIGHT THE FIGHT AND HELP FIND THE CURE.
