Enhancing the nutrition environment in Jamaica, targeting students, student athletes and youth in schools/institutions and offering general population nutrition services through collaboration with teachers, nutrition advocates + strategic partners. Jamaica Island Nutrition Network (JINN) was incorporated March 25, 2009 with Principals on the Board of Directors being Patricia Thompson (Executive Di

rector), Erwin Burton (Chairman), Audia Barnett (Vice Chair), Stacy Ann Rose (Representative from MOA), Damion Francis (Representative of JAPINAD) and Winsome Segree Mackay (Independent). This entity was designed to address the needs, the gaps, and inefficiencies identified within the Nutrition Programme at Jamaican schools particularly at the basic and primary levels. This is on the premise that students in these age groups are the foundation for development of human potential and represent critical periods of growth affected in terms of nutritional status, academic performance and social well-being. The JINN has the mandate to reconstitute, re-engineer and implement a programme that will alleviate any underlining factor of children’s nutritional well-being and to maintain its sustainability.
