February 1972 marked the establishment of an Advice Service as a project by the Council of Voluntary Social Services (C.V.S.S.), under the directorship of Hazel Monteith, JP. In 1973, the Advice Services adapted the name Citizens' Advice Bureau, Jamaica after leaving the C.V.S.S. It was at this time that the Bureau became more focused and was revised to accommodate

Legal Aid (in conjunction with the Legal Aid Clinic)
Involvement in select National programs namely -obtaining Birth Certificates, new legislation such as the Status of Children

Assistance with children who were unable to attend school
