We love seeing how our past scholarship recipients are doing! Saleche Buckley, our 2025 high school scholarship awardee from Spanish Town High School and member of The Salvation Army in Linstead, Jamaica, shared an encouraging update on his journey.

Saleche is currently a sixth-form student pursuing CAPE subjects in Agricultural Science, Tourism, Food & Nutrition, and Communication Studies. He shared, “I have grown academically by improving my knowledge, study habits, and critical-thinking skills.”

He also continues to serve through his passion for music, playing the drums at his church.

Saleche expressed sincere gratitude saying, “Your generosity has given me the opportunity to pursue my academic goals and work towards a brighter future,” and “I am truly thankful for your investment in my education and personal growth. Thank you for believing in me and helping me take this important step forward.”

We are grateful for our donors whose support continues to open doors for students like Saleche.

The Hyacinth Scarlett Foundation Mobile Outreach Team including Board Members Monique Allen, President; Alice Payne-Blake, Vice President; and Winsome, Outreach Coordinator for Jamaica, were honored to deliver medical supplies to the Sickle Cell Unit at the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica this week!

It was wonderful to connect with Karyl Peart, Medical Social Worker for the Sickle Cell Unit and to continue strengthening our partnership in support of individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.

Foundation Board members of our mobile outreach team President Monique Allen, Vice President Alice Payne-Blake, and our Outreach Coordinator for Jamaica Winsome had the privilege of presenting the 2026 Hyacinth Scarlett Music Memorial Scholarship award to RuthAnn Dacosta at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

RuthAnn, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, was selected for her powerful application that demonstrated how music has helped her navigate life with sickle cell disease and lupus. Her story of resilience, perseverance, and dedication to serving her community embodies the spirit of this scholarship and the lasting impact of music to inspire, heal, and unite.

Behind every BloomCare Wound Kit is the belief that no one should be forgotten. 💜

Yesterday, we were grateful to have volunteers from Target join the Hyacinth Scarlett Foundation to assemble BloomCare Wound Kits for mobile outreach at The Salvation Army. Each kit includes basic first aid supplies to help care for minor wounds and support underserved and unhoused individuals in our community.

On May 26, the Hyacinth Scarlett Foundation attended the Non-Profit Symposium: Collaboration for Greater Impact presented by Lunar Studio and hosted by the Atlantic Center for the Arts.
