A familiar face returns to St John Ambulance Jersey!

We're delighted to introduce Stephanie Millow, our new Youth Development Officer!

For Steph, joining the team is a bit of a homecoming. Having first been involved with St John as a Badger and Cadet between 2004 and 2013, she's now returned 13 years later, ready to help inspire the next generation.

Steph is looking forward to working alongside our fantastic volunteers and young people, helping them develop new skills, build confidence and discover just how much of a difference they can make.

"My hope is that every young person involved with St John develops the confidence to step forward and help someone in need."

It's wonderful to welcome someone back who has experienced our youth programmes first-hand and understands the impact they can have.

Would you recognise the signs that someone is choking?

A person who is choking may:

▪️ Be unable to speak, breathe or cough
▪️ Hold their hands around their throat
▪️ Become distressed or panicked
▪️ Develop pale or blue-tinged skin

If they can cough, encourage them to keep coughing. If the blockage is severe and they cannot breathe, shout for help, call 999 and begin appropriate first aid.

Knowing what to do could help save a life.
