JSPCA Animals' Shelter Preventing cruelty, promoting knowledge, and providing for aged, sick, lost and unwanted animals.

*** Please note that when our Reception is closed you can call our ambulance driver on 07797 720331 ***

The JSPCA’s mission is to prevent cruelty, promote knowledge and provide for the aged, sick, injured and unwanted animals of Jersey. We have been serving the local community for over 150 years, since the JSPCA was founded in 1968. The Jersey Animals' Shelter itself was founded in 1913 by Miss F

rances Elizabeth Wilson, who was appalled by the number of domestic animals found washed up on the Island's beaches, having been drowned by owners unable to care for them. We have an ambulance service that operates 24 hours and day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, so you can call us for advice or support either through our Reception during our opening hours or our ambulance driver during the evening, Sundays and bank holidays.

Meet the dream team: Mochi, Panucci & Coltrane! 💕🌟🐹 Triple the fluff, triple the fun! 🐹🌟
These three gorgeous piggies are looking for a forever home where they can continue their adorable adventures together.
✨ Mochi is the wise big cool Aunty of the group. She arrived as a stray, so her exact age is a mystery, but what we do know is that she's full of confidence and charm!
🎷 Coltrane and 🍕 Panucci were born right here at the shelter and are just 2 months old. They're playful, curious, and absolutely love having Mochi around.
💖 The best part? These three are the best of friends! They spend their days chatting, snuggling, exploring, and generally being the cutest little herd imaginable.
🏡 We're looking for a home where they can stay together. As Coltrane and Panucci are not yet spayed, they'll need to join a female-only herd or live with a neutered male.

Could your home be the happy ending this lovable trio deserves? 🥰 please fill in an application form if they might be your perfect match: https://jspca.org.je/register-to-rehome/

Success Story 🐾

We’ve had a lovely update from Sir Otis Peanuts' new family letting us know how he is getting on in his new home 💕

“We adopted Otis on the 12th of December when he was just 8 weeks old. He had been surrendered to the shelter, and we were only supposed to foster him for one night. But oh, how quickly our family fell in love with him!

Taking on a puppy again was a wonderful experience, from remembering how to toilet train to managing the antics of this mischievous little pup. Otis was incredibly clever and picked things up so quickly. Being able to take him to puppy classes and watching him pass was one of the highlights of our journey together. He has also begun his agility starter classes as well!

Now aged 9 months, he has grown into a very handsome young boy. He loves exploring the sand dunes, wandering through the woods, and zooming around open fields as if he’s on an important mission. He is also learning to enjoy having his teeth brushed and being groomed, especially when plenty of treats are involved!

Otis has made lots of doggy friends along the way, ranging from a Sprocker Spaniel to a Golden Retriever, and even a Saluki Greyhound. He seems to think every dog he meets is a potential best friend. Recently, we decided to do a DNA test to finally settle the family debate about what breed he might be. We knew he wasn’t just a full Pomeranian, but nobody could quite agree on what else was in the mix. To our surprise, the results showed that he has two different types of Spitz in him, which actually explains a lot, especially his longer nose compared to the typical teddy-bear Pomeranian look. We also discovered he has a tiny percentage of Chihuahua in him… thankfully only 3%!

Our family couldn’t be happier. Otis is like our own child now, complete with the occasional woof-filled backchat when he disagrees with our decisions. He fills our days with laughter, love, and plenty of adventures, and we truly can’t imagine life without him.

A huge thank you to all the staff, behaviourists, and the veterinary team for everything they do. Your dedication, care, and support helped bring Otis into our lives, and we will always be grateful.

With love,

Sir Otis Peanuts and family ❤️🐾”

How lucky are we to have people who give their time so generously! 💙

Last month, wonderful volunteers from RBC Wealth Management rolled up their sleeves and helped us brighten up our walls, and what a difference it has made.

Volunteers play such an important part in charity life. Sometimes it is the big things, sometimes it is the practical jobs, and sometimes it is simply people showing up and wanting to help.

A huge thank you to the RBC team for giving their time, energy and plenty of paintbrush skills, and to great team at The Paint Pot Colour Centre for kindly donating the paint.

Together, you’ve helped make the Shelter a brighter place for the animals, our visitors, volunteers and team. 💙🐾

Every duckling that comes into our care has a different story… Some have been caught by a cat and need treatment for their injuries. Some have fallen down drains and become trapped. Others have become separated from their mothers and simply can't find their way back to their families.

So far this season, we've successfully rehabilitated and released 29 ducklings back into the wild. And our work isn't finished yet. We currently have 20 more ducklings in our care, receiving the specialised support they need to grow strong enough for release 🦆 💚

Have you ever seen a group of ducklings that appear to be alone? If you come across a duckling on its own or in distress, it’s important to keep your distance. Getting too close can scare the duckling or prevent its mother from returning to it. In many cases, the mother is nearby and will come back once the area is quiet. Wait around 30 minutes and watch from a safe distance. If the duckling is still alone and there’s no sign of its mum, contact the JSPCA on 01534 724331 for advice and support.

For more detailed guidance on helping ducklings, be sure to check out our dedicated information page below 👇
