Noah is a great choice for the chairperson position, a key member of Reform Jersey for 8 years, previously active in the youth section of the membership, now taking the reins of the party executive committee.

We wish him the very best and look forward to working closely with him.

This is extremely disappointing news, we know the previous social security minister Deputy Lyndsay Feltham - Reform Jersey undertook much work in readiness for the draft of this new legislation, and here it seems the new social security minister hasn't even bothered to read the draft, but is delaying any introduction of whistleblowing laws nonetheless.

⚠️ WHISTLEBLOWING LEGISLATION ON HOLD⚠️
⚠️ LEGISLAÇÃO DE PROTEÇÃO DE DENUNCIANTES EM SUSPENSO⚠️

Really disappointed to hear in today’s Scrutiny hearing that the new Minister for Social Security, Elaine Millar, has stated that she will not be progressing this next year and has not read the draft whistleblowing legislation, despite the legislation being ready to go and having been lodged as a report by the previous Minister, Deputy Lyndsay Feltham - Reform Jersey, before the last election.

She is also going back on an already agreed States Assembly decision on my proposition - and on her own commitment, when she was previously Minister for Social Security in July 2023, to bring forward the necessary legislation

❗️ This is VITAL protection for workers.
People should be able to raise concerns about wrongdoing in the public interest without fear of retaliation.

🇵🇹 ❗️ Esta é uma proteção FUNDAMENTAL para os trabalhadores.
As pessoas devem poder denunciar situações de irregularidades ou práticas ilícitas de interesse público **sem medo de sofrer represálias.

👊🏽 We do *NOT* need more delay.
👊🏽 We do *NOT* need more consultation.
👉🏻 We need ACTION. Plain and simple.
This is why **VOTING MATTERS**.🗳️

🇵🇹 👊🏽 *NÃO* precisamos de mais atrasos.

👉🏻 Precisamos de AÇÃO. Ponto final.
É por isso que **VOTAR É IMPORTANTE.** 🗳️

Gender pay disparity is something Unite South West fight to change and work with employers where gap's are identified.

Are you in work for an employer that may be paying or promoting male colleague's ahead of female staff?

Join Unite the union today!

There are no plans to make States-owned organisations publish gender pay gap figures – despite some reporting differences of up to 25% between male and female employees. Chief Minister Lyndon Farnham confirmed that there was “no legislative or regulatory requirement” for arms-length organisati...

Is this the step in the right direction, does this change your working or residential position under new rules?

Changes to Jersey’s residence and employment rules are now in effect.

The updates make it easier for businesses to recruit staff and reduce administration through simpler applications and clearer guidance.

For Islanders, Permanent Entitled status can now be achieved after 25 years of continuous residence instead of 30, with greater flexibility for those who spend time away from the Island for work, study, family commitments or other opportunities.

The changes also create more routes for eligible workers to access qualified accommodation, helping Jersey attract and retain the skills businesses need.

This needs to be introduced sooner rather than later, as it has been in the UK and even Guernsey has moved on this ahead of Jersey.

We would encourage all members to write to your elected deputies, ministers and senator's to support this if it goes to a vote in the chamber.

If people can hardly survive now whilst in work, how is anyone going to survive when they retire with only the states pension to rely upon, having a workplace pension is crucial, if not the taxpayer will need to support thousands of people who cannot afford to live, so being proactive and moving this forward is vital in the long run.

What are your thoughts on this?

PLANS to bring in statutory workplace pensions in Jersey are to be revived during the new political term, the Social Security Minister has confirmed. Senator Elaine Millar said that moves towards a new system which would encourage Islanders to save ahead of their retirement years were one of her pri...

The vote for the new Reform Jersey party leader was a tie at the AGM, so co-leaders are now in place, sharing the responsibility to lead the party for the time being.

The AGM also overwhelmingly voted for a motion to begin exploring a name change for the party after concerns of a connection to the Reform UK party were becoming ever-present.

Unite South West and the local Unite Jersey team work closely with the party leader and elected deputy's/ministers. This work will continue and be more focused and structured as the party plans for the future and the changes ahead.

Together we are stronger.
