What a proud moment! Portuguese author Lídia Jorge is among the contenders for the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature, according to bookmakers' predictions reported by Observador. The author of The Murmuring Coast and Misericórdia is placed seventh by Ladbrokes, the only Portuguese writer among the leading names.

Just last week, we had the great honour of welcoming Lídia Jorge to Jersey as part of the Jersey Festival of Words. It was a privilege to share her words, warmth and insight with our community. Thank you, Lídia, for being with us.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 8 October.📚
