In December 2025 we awarded four local frontline charities with grants of £2,000 in acknowledgement of the great work they undertake to individuals in need of vital support to survive as living costs continue to grow on the island.

Speaking to representatives of these charities namely The Grace Trust, Jersey Shelter Trust, Caritas Jersey, and Street Pastors the common theme was that an increasing number of individuals are accessing their respective services on a monthly basis, so we are extremely pleased to be able to help them continue their vital services.

In the coming days we will update you on an exciting project in the North of St Helier which is nearing completion so please keep a look out.

Here is a testimonial from The Street Pastors for whom we provided a grant of £2,000 in support of their training requirements to carry out the great work they provide to young people who find themselves in trouble on the street of St Helier. This is just one Charity we support annually through our ‘Grant Aid Scheme’. If your organisation is in need of funds and for more information please Email ‘[email protected]

Here is a brief update of the progress we made in 2023. When we applied, we were in a precarious situation with our team down to 14 active members (16 in total), and we all needed to do the mandatory refresher training required by our parent organisation The Ascension Trust. Thanks to your generosity we were able to fly Sarah from AT over twice which resulted in all 16 members completing refresher training, which gave one of the non-active members the confidence to recommence patrolling, and we are all now covered for the next 3 years. Her second visit focused more on our 5 new recruits and was the start of their training journey. Throughout November we had a further 2 training sessions with the States of Jersey Police which were well attended by the current and new team members. We are in the final stages of their training and recruitment (DBS checks, Uniform etc) with the first patrol of a new team member scheduled for February 3rd. I am also just confirming some First Aid training for the whole team which will be provided by First Response at the end of Feb. This means by the end of quarter 1 we could have a freshly trained team of 21! This will allow us to return to teams of four rather than the three we have been operating since COVID. This should improve the quality of the service we deliver allowing for more interactions as a team of four, patrols as two pairs of two, whereas as three we are required to stay together.

Here are some highlights of 2023:

• We covered all 52 Saturdays of 2023
• Which represents 838 volunteer hours!
• We interacted with 1920, 85 of whom needed active help.
• We gave away 1891 lollies and 102 pairs of flip-flops.
• We removed 1098 pieces of glass preventing many injuries.

Once again, a huge thank you to you all, I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say your contribution has saved SPJ and we are all extremely grateful.
