In 1905, the American Red Cross (ARC) was chartered by the United States Congress to provide two services: disaster relief and services to members of the United States Armed Forces. Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) is the worldwide program through which the ARC provides emergency communications and other services to the members of the United States Armed Forces and their families. SAF is a "mediu
m of communication between the people of the United States and the Armed forces". The humanitarian services of the ARC are delivered to members of the Armed Forces and their families by paid and volunteer staff. Mission of SAF:
-SAF ensures that eligible former members and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families have worldwide, 24-hour access to timely and reliable emergency communications, case management services, and emergency financial assistance on behalf of the military aid societies.
-SAF strategically plans for excellent services delivery to the Armed Forces.
-SAF is a worldwide system to ensure global, 24/7/365, efficient, effective, and consistent services. This is the official page for the American Red Cross.
