VSMA Quarterly Social Gathering

Last night’s gathering was filled with delicious food, flowing wine, fantastic music, great laughs, and wonderful company. Farewell to SGM Gabriel Liera (unless you land that VMC job 🤞) —thank you for your service, leadership, and friendship. We’ll miss you if you end up departing.

The VSMA had the honor of being recognized—and, even more meaningfully, of recognizing two outstanding JROTC Cadets—presenting each with a VSMA Coin and a Certificate of Excellence during the 21 February 2026 JROTC Ball. Their achievement reflects the discipline, leadership, and commitment that define the very best of the JROTC “Cougar” Battalion. 🤙

In recognition of exceptional dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the values of the Vicenza High School, 10th JROTC “Cougar” Battalion. Cadet Horrigan & Nefoussi have demonstrated outstanding performance and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Through discipline, integrity, and service, they have set a powerful example for their peers and embodied the highest standards of citizenship and character. Their achievements reflect not only personal strength, but a future defined by purpose and honor.

As we gather in spirit this festive season, we reflect with deep gratitude on the strength, camaraderie, leadership, and dedication that define our Association.

Our thoughts especially turn to those deployed worldwide—standing vigilant far from home so we may celebrate in peace. We hold them and their families in our hearts, profoundly grateful for their sacrifice and courage.

Today’s SETAF-AF NCO Induction Ceremony was more than a milestone—it was a powerful reminder of what it means to step into the ranks of the Noncommissioned Officer Corps.

A special thanks goes to CSM Lorenzo Souza for leading this ceremony with professionalism and purpose. His powerful remarks captured the essence of what it means to be an NCO and set the tone for the journey these inductees are beginning.

The ceremony honored the enduring traditions of the NCO Corps while challenging each inductee to embrace the responsibility that comes with the role. From the recitation of the NCO Creed to the symbolic walk beneath the arch, every moment reinforced the values that define our profession: leadership grounded in character, commitment to Soldiers, and unwavering dedication to the mission.

Today’s inductees join a long line of leaders who carry the weight of trust on their shoulders. Their influence will shape Soldiers, strengthen teams, and drive mission success across SETAF-AF and beyond.

Vicenza Sergeant Major Association members and family came together for our quartely social gathering – great food, fine wine, non-stop laughs, and the joy of giving and receiving gifts. Moments like these remind us why this family means so much.

The VSMA Holiday Gift Wrapping Fundraiser was a success thanks to the incredible dedication of our volunteers. A special thanks to David Rieckmann for organizing the event.

Though we only raised $22, the real impact came from the camaraderie and holiday spirit. Together, the association proved that the true gift of the season is being able to get together to do good for the community.

TRUNK-OR-TREAT 2025!
What a fantastic evening! Thanks to everyone for donating your time and money! The popcorn and hot chocolate were a big hit, and of course, the kids loved the candy. Special thanks to Rebekah & Vickie Ball-Reeves, David Rieckmann + spouse, Peggy Smith, Mitch Rucker, Rosa Morales Gonzalez and Martina Horval for making this event a great success. Happy Halloween 🎃! Can't wait for the next event!!
