VSMA Social Gathering - 31 July 2026

A wonderful evening filled with food, w**e, and laughter! One of the highlights of the evening was recognizing several members and spouses for their dedication and support to the Association. This was the last social that the VSMA President had the privilege to lead. As CSM (Ret) Sean Horval’s term as President concludes, the association eagerly awaits to see who will step into his shoes.

Also, the VSMA welcomes CSM (Ret) Mitchell Rucker as the new Veteran Co-Vice President, and thanks SGM (Ret) Anthony Young for his service in that role over the past year.

The VSMA had the honor of being recognized—and, even more meaningfully, of recognizing two outstanding JROTC Cadets—presenting each with a VSMA Coin and a Certificate of Excellence during the 21 February 2026 JROTC Ball. Their achievement reflects the discipline, leadership, and commitment that define the very best of the JROTC “Cougar” Battalion. 🤙

As we gather in spirit this festive season, we reflect with deep gratitude on the strength, camaraderie, leadership, and dedication that define our Association.

Our thoughts especially turn to those deployed worldwide—standing vigilant far from home so we may celebrate in peace. We hold them and their families in our hearts, profoundly grateful for their sacrifice and courage.

May this Christmas bring warmth, joy, and peace to your homes and forward positions. As we enter 2026, let us renew our commitment to honor, selfless service, and unity.

On behalf of the Association, thank you for all you do.

Today’s SETAF-AF NCO Induction Ceremony was more than a milestone—it was a powerful reminder of what it means to step into the ranks of the Noncommissioned Officer Corps.

A special thanks goes to CSM Lorenzo Souza for leading this ceremony with professionalism and purpose. His powerful remarks captured the essence of what it means to be an NCO and set the tone for the journey these inductees are beginning.

The ceremony honored the enduring traditions of the NCO Corps while challenging each inductee to embrace the responsibility that comes with the role. From the recitation of the NCO Creed to the symbolic walk beneath the arch, every moment reinforced the values that define our profession: leadership grounded in character, commitment to Soldiers, and unwavering dedication to the mission.

Today’s inductees join a long line of leaders who carry the weight of trust on their shoulders. Their influence will shape Soldiers, strengthen teams, and drive mission success across SETAF-AF and beyond.

The VSMA Holiday Gift Wrapping Fundraiser was a success thanks to the incredible dedication of our volunteers. A special thanks to David Rieckmann for organizing the event.

Though we only raised $22, the real impact came from the camaraderie and holiday spirit. Together, the association proved that the true gift of the season is being able to get together to do good for the community.
