We are delighted to announce that the Biblioteca Capitolare di Verona has joined the network of Associated Partners of the Erasmus+ project CORRIGE – Tools to Detect and Mitigate Writing Errors in Secondary Schools 📜✍️

We continue our preview of the Atlas of Errors, which will soon be available online. Developed as part of the Corrige project (https://corrige.ipb.pt), the atlas brings together writing errors from a wide range of historical and contemporary sources.

The examples featured in this post come from the Errors in History section, which explores writing errors across different periods, languages, and writing traditions. As we compare historical documents with present-day writing, we are finding striking similarities in error patterns, suggesting that many writing errors recur throughout the history of writing despite differences in time, language, and writing culture.

Each entry in the atlas includes an image of the original source together with information about its provenance, sociographic details about the writer where available, a description and classification of the error, and additional contextual information. As the project continues, we are expanding the collection to create a valuable resource for investigating writing errors across time and cultures.
