🌍💧 WAMU+NET at the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum, Rome

On 2 October 2026, WAMU+NET, in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair in Engineering for Human and Sustainable Development at the University of Trento and the One Water Committee Italy, is organizing a high-level official side event at the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum in Rome, titled:
“Water Education for Climate Adaptation: A Global Repository for Present & Future Generations.”

The event is launching WAMU+NET’s proposal for a global, free, open-access platform bringing together ready-to-use educational tools developed by water museums and partners worldwide. This digital repository is conceived as a contribution to UNESCO-IHP (Phase 9).

• Presentation of WAMU+NET’s global educational platform
• High-level roundtable with institutions and policy-makers
• Sharing practical tools for educators and communities
• Open call for new partners, museums, and institutions

💧Opening soon in Milan!

Photo exhibition “Caring for Water in the Desert: Ancestral Knowledge and Sustainable Management in the Oasis of Douiret-Sbâa, Morocco”.
From 25 September to 14 October 2026, the Centrale dell’Acqua in Milan (member of WAMU+NET) will host a photographic exhibition organised by WAMU+NET.

Through 30 photographs by Tommaso Borroni, Giulia Badocchi and Valeria Perrone, the exhibition tells the story of a centuries-old community-based water management system in the oasis of Douiret-Sbâa, in Morocco.🌱

This initiative contributes to WAMU+NET’s mission of promoting water heritage as a key resource for climate adaptation and sustainability, while also supporting the development of the first Ecomuseum of the Oasis.

The Ecomuseum project is a co-creative initiative by WAMU+NET, the Local Development Association of Douiret-Sbâa, and collaborating researchers. It has developed through a series of study visits, including the participation of the photographers featured in this exhibition.

🌍 Soil Art Tales arrives in Slovenia!

After its successful stops in Porto and Rome, the travelling exhibition "Soil Art Tales: Living Ecosystems for Shared Futures” lands at

📅 10 September – 18 October 2026

Organised by WAMU+NET within the EU-funded SoilTribes project and curated by Cagol, the exhibition brings together four international artists exploring soil as a living system—deeply connected to water, climate, food, and cultural heritage.

✨ Through installations, video, photography, and research-based works, visitors are invited to rediscover soil as a vital, yet often overlooked, ally for sustainable futures.

🤝 This stop is especially meaningful as the hosting museum is part of the WAMU+NET network—and will feature dedicated educational activities engaging local communities and audiences.

🎤 Opening on 10 September with a guided tour by curator Stefano Cagol.

📅 On 18 September 2026, WAMU+NET will host a dedicated Workshop Day at Palazzo Zorzi, UNESCO Office in Venice, in the framework of the S+T+ARTS AQUA MOTION project, co-funded by the European Union.

🎨🔬 Two sessions, one day.

Workshop 1 — Converging Currents: Art-Science Collaborations for Water Sustainability

9:30–13:00

A working session exploring how artistic practice and scientific research can inform and challenge each other in addressing water challenges. AQUA MOTION artists lead intimate table discussions on their work, creating a conversational and hands-on setting where participants - students, researchers, educators, practitioners and curious minds - can engage directly with the artists and with each other.

Workshop 2 — Flowing Imaginaries: Eco-Art Practices in Times of Water and Environmental Crisis

15:00–17:30

An open public event exploring eco-art as a field at the intersection of art, environment and society - its history, its geographic diversity, and its role in addressing the environmental crisis. Senior curators, including Stefano Cagol (Curator of the Nauru National Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale), Mara Sartore will open with a provocation, followed by table discussions facilitated by professionals from around the world.

Both workshops will be held in English. Places are limited.
