In Germany, access to vocational training can still be a complex and fragmented journey for many young refugees, often making it harder to achieve long term stability, independence, and a secure place in the labour market.

To respond to this challenge, The Human Safety Net and @ have joined forces to strengthen pathways into employment and support more effective and inclusive transitions from education to work.

Their approach combines skills development, personalised mentoring, and hands on experience, creating an environment where young people can rebuild confidence, develop practical competences, and connect with real opportunities.

At the same time, an innovative funding model helps ensure that support is aligned with real outcomes, reinforcing efforts that lead to tangible progress and long term impact in the labour market.

🌍 In the EU alone, over 7 million migrants are currently outside the labor force due to language barriers, unrecognized qualifications, discrimination and administrative hurdles.
Many have the talent to build successful careers, but lack access to the networks, information and support.

Our Programme for Refugees helps them build new career paths in their host countries through training and mentoring, financial education and access to shared workspaces.

Since 2017, The Human Safety Net has helped over 18.000 refugees in finding employment or starting their own business, thanks to a global network of 33 partners in 7 contries. 🫂

🫂 In 2025, The Human Safety Net has reached over 1.3 million children and caregivers, thanks to a global network of 65 partners in 23 countries.

Our programs support parents and young children (ages 0–6) in vulnerable circumstances, strengthening parenting skills and providing access to high-quality early learning opportunities. By providing resources, guidance and access to support networks we foster positive relationships and ensure that children can reach their full potential.

In 2026, we will continue working to build a better future for more families. ✨

Another year, same unstoppable mission: to unlock the potential of people living in vulnerable circumstances, so they can transform the lives of their families and communities.

Since 2017, we have supported over 1,3 million people.
How did we do that? Thanks to a network of 98 partner NGOs across 25 countries and the support of 11,000 volunteers.

Our work focuses on two main areas: the Programme for Families, designed to support parents in the first six years of their children’s lives, and the Programme for Refugees, aimed at the economic inclusion of refugees.

Change isn’t just an idea. It’s the reality we’re building, together. 🌱

We’re proud to share that The Human Safety Net’s 2025 Social Impact Report is now live.

In a world shaped by profound demographic change, our shared commitment with 98 partner organisations continues to turn purpose into action. Together, we support families with children aged 0–6 and foster the economic empowerment of refugees through employment and entrepreneurship.

In 2024 alone, we reached more than 500,000 people—bringing the total number of beneficiaries supported by our movement to over 1.3 million since 2017.

This Report highlights our focus on evidence-based, scalable programmes, rigorous impact measurement, and continuous learning across our network—because we believe that lasting change must be both meaningful and measurable.

Explore the Report and discover how, together with our partners, we are building more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable solutions for people and communities worldwide.

Thach Thi L**h thought screens were helping. Many parents do.

Then, everything changed.
Through our Early Journey of Life programme, she discovered that early learning comes from real interaction and play, not passive watching. So she started making small changes at home to support her children’s development in a healthier way.

Today, she chooses connection and presence so her children grow up surrounded by love and attention, not screens.

Do you already know FORWARD? ✨
It’s a project by The Human Safety Net that brings together stories of refugees who face challenges with resilience and determination — like Mudrik.

Forced to flee Ukraine, Mudrik arrived in Germany with very little.
There, he found more than just a free education at ReDI School for IT: he found people who believed in him and gave him a chance.
Today, he works as a Front-End Developer, looking ahead with hope and a strong desire to give back. 🫂
