Four unforgettable days of art, discovery and friendship in Venice! 🏵

AIWAV members were delighted to welcome Zurich, AWCZ, American Women's Club of Zurich for our first experience hosting a sister club.

A yoga class taught by AIWAV member Julia Curtis brought a moment of calm, while our boat tour through the Northern Lagoon introduced us to islands including Sant’Erasmo and Sant’Andrea. We learned about the lagoon’s fragile environment and saw the MOSE barriers that help protect Venice from acqua alta.

Our social aperitivo and dinner together gave us more time to share stories, laugh and build friendships.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this visit so special—and to our Zurich sisters for joining us!

Arielle Tucker CFP® EA gave us a glimpse into 15 years of coal face financial planning for expats in her book presentation last evening at the Human Safety Net.

There were many nods in the audience as she described the very complicated situation most expats find themselves in. She shared insight into the importance of understanding the impact of financial activity on the respective sides of your expat life, warned us of scenarios that evolve organically but should be avoided, where and how to hold your money for practicality and cost saving, how to approach investment as an American in Europe, and steps to help your children understand their upcoming obligations.

Arielle is keen to make financial planning accessible to everyone. She has a respected podcast and newsletter and her book, The Expat Money Playbook (Wiley, 2026), is now available worldwide.

A beautiful day of friendship, culture, and Venetian tradition! ☀️🇮🇹

AIWAV members, friends, and families enjoyed a private tour of Villa Foscari “La Malcontenta,” built in 1554 for the noble Foscari family.

The sunny day continued with a delicious traditional Venetian lunch—the perfect way to share wonderful moments together! 🥂🍽️

Private tour with two guides, one from the owners family and the other, Andrew Hopkins FSA, a professor of Architectural History at the University of Aquila. Built for the descendants of Doge Foscari, this property features a pagan arcade, an antique Roman temple doorway, spatial symmetry, allegorical frescos, and was registered on the UNESCO list of World Heritage in 1977.
