The art director for 2023 is Cecilia Mentasti. AnonimaKunsthalle is a non-profit exhibition space in Varese, actually run by Cecilia Mentasti. Founded in 2016 by Ermanno Cristini, Giancarlo Norese e Luca Scarabelli, it was located on the tiled wall of the kitchen; from 2020 it occupies the walk-in closet of the sitting room. AnonimaKunsthalle is deeply related to the curatorial and artistic experi

mentation; it aims to involve all the creative energies that have not yet found either the way or time to manifest, in a totally free and disconnected way from classical canons. With riss(e) and Surplace, AnonimaKunsthalle is a temporary warehouse for shapes, ideas, meditations, thoughts and meetings; it is a collective place of feelings and movements; this, in a mainstream language, would also be called platform (but it is not yet found on the sea). “Today they asked me for a love poem, / then for a love letter / and then for another one – the love letter, I mean. / Why are you doing all this? «Lasà pert», you would say” sono quattro dei versi della poesia in cui inglese e dialetto si mescolano in un dialogo tra generale e particolare, in un dialogo tra la lingua universale per eccellenza e un parlato utilizzato solo in una certa regione.

“Le cose appaiono recuperabili solo se scollate dal mondo”, disse una volta il poeta, scrittore e critico Alfredo Giuliani – ed ecco che Ludovica Gugliotta, per generare un senso che sarà, poi, condiviso, deve necessariamente appaiare la sua creazione a qualcosa di scollato dal mondo, dalla partecipazione a priori in tutte le informazioni, insufflando in quella creazione qualcosa che esiste soltanto in una dimensione segreta o fittizia.

L’euroconvertitore, colloquialmente “la calcolatrice di Berlusconi”, è il primo oggetto che mi viene alla mente pensando alla traduzione di una cifra da un sistema monetario a un altro. Legato con un nodo molto stretto all’euroconvertitore – avevo sì e no tre anni quando fu regalato dal governo – è il ricordo di mio nonno che maneggiava quel pezzo di plastica blu lamentandosi per la sconvenienza del passaggio dalla lira all’euro. A causa di questo ricordo, diffido da sempre subconsciamente del concetto di conversione, cioè di cambiamento. La conversione è un simpatico scherzo che ti fa uno strozzino (o un prete) nel migliore dei casi e, nel peggiore, una frustrazione assoluta – perché non esiste conversione senza la perdita di parte del contenuto originario, per quanto ci si possa impegnare a preservarlo. “Convertitore Dollaro Euro” ha perso parte del suo significato originario, quando doveva essere una mostra sui cowboy, ma nei lavori di Giulio Bonfante e Luca Valli sopravvivono i ricordi di quel precedente sistema abbandonato.

RACCONTAMI: Postille

The AnonimaKunsthalle space is transformed into a liminal place accessible only to the gaze. A forbidden work area in which the artwork reveals itself in its transience.
Resembling a partially unveiled contemporary relic, the wooden frieze is supported by scaffolding that evokes restoration sites and the ruins of a past not yet concluded. Divided into four metopes, carefully inlaid yet deliberately marked by traces of provisionality, the frieze reveals a plural temporality: that of conception, transformation, error, and revision. Drafts, design marks, and annotations become an integral part of the work—not as remnants to be erased, but as fundamental elements of its narrative.
"Postille" offers no answers, but clues and suggestions; it is a work that embraces doubt as a form, and suspension as a condition.

The third event, which concludes the series, is Federica Balconi's solo exhibition Postille. In a silent atmosphere, Postille unfolds like an archaeological site in the making: a temporary excavation area where time seems to settle in layers, and where every gesture and mark takes part in a story still searching for its form.

RACCONTAMI: Memorie dall'invisibile

Bernardo Tirabosco works through layers: beginning with light supports such as waxed fabrics, he presses forms into them with lead, leaving impressions that surface like the remnants of a withheld thought. Each work unfolds through a slow process that turns disparate materials into dense, enduring traces.
Lead shifts from sculptural weight to mark, passage, imprint - not as representation, but as affirmation of presence. There is no narrative, no fixed composition, only a continuous tension between what reveals itself and what withdraws.
The surface becomes a field of resistance against oblivion, a space where memory is not recounted but embodied. Each trace is a deliberate act, a gesture that anchors the ephemeral without seeking to control it.

In the exhibition “Memorie dall'invisibile” – “Memories from the Invisible” – thought takes shape even before becoming image. The artist’s works do not illustrate, but rather evoke: thresholds to be crossed, surfaces that retain the memory of gesture, and materials that absorb and return visions. Bernardo Tirabosco’s practice moves between permanence and transience, allowing an intimate imaginary to emerge, where the boundary between reality and possibility gradually fades until it disappears.
The space embraces these traces as fragments of a silent language, in which the works themselves become manifestations of thought and memory, taking form through a process of transformation. The material—treated, engraved, layered—acts as a mediator between the visible and the invisible.
