🇪🇷 Along Eritrea’s Red Sea coast, huge schools of sardines and anchovies swim by every year 🐠🐟 For decades, many of these nutrient-rich fish were barely used for human food.

Now communities are giving them a new purpose: protein powder.

With support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Eritrea is building a value chain around small pelagic fish, drying them in the sun ☀️, grinding them into fine powder, and packaging a nutrient boost that can be added to everyday meals.

Women are leading the way 👩🏽‍🌾
They clean the fish, dry them, grind them, and share the knowledge across their communities, bringing fish nutrition from the coast to remote inland families.
