MADAGASCAR IN MY HEART
In these days of great change and suffering for the Malagasy people, who have rid themselves of a president who was certainly not up to the task (to say the least) and are trying to build a brighter future for themselves. I believe – like many others – that the fate of the people is inextricably linked to the protection of their territory and their treasure trove of biodiversity, which has been too heavily compromised by plundering and corruption. I would like to share an article I wrote a few years ago in which I said that “those who protect Madagascar protect the whole world”. I still hold the same opinion today: what happens on the Grand'Ile may be a preview of what is happening or will happen in the rest of the world. With solidarity.
In questi giorni di grandi cambiamenti e di grande sofferenza per il popolo malagasy che si è sbarazzato di un presidente sicuramente non all'altezza del suo ruolo (per non dire altro) e tenta di costruire il proprio futuro, necessariamente più luminoso. Credo - come molti altri - che il destino del popolo sia indissolubilmente legato alla salvaguardia del proprio territorio e del proprio scrigno di biodiversità, troppo pesantemente compromesso da spoliazioni e da corruzione. Condivido un mio articolo di qualche anno fa in cui dicevo che "chi protegge il Madagascar protegge tutto il mondo". Sono dello stesso parere anche oggi: ciò che capita sulla Grand'Ile può essere un anticipo di quello che avviene o avverrà nel resto del mondo. Con solidarietà.
