Navigation on the trail 🗺🥾

The E5 is mostly well marked, and signposting in Austria, Germany and South Tyrol is generally reliable.

Still, it is important not to rely on signposts alone. Fog, sudden weather changes or missing trail markers can make navigation more difficult.

That’s why you should always carry:
• an outdoor app such as Outdooractive or Komoot
• GPX tracks of your route
• offline maps
• basic map-reading skills

Good navigation is not only about finding the right path, it also means being prepared for unexpected situations.

🌼🌞Der traditionelle 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐚𝐛𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐛 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐢 findet am 𝟐𝟔. 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 statt! Abtrieb von der Alm um 12.00 Uhr, und Ankunft im Dorfzentrum um ca. 12.30 Uhr. Kühe und Pferde kehren von der Sommerfrische auf der Alm zurück und werden im Dorfzentrum von Altrei empfangen. 💐🐄🌺

La tradizionale 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐚 𝐝𝐢 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐨 torna il 𝟐𝟔 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔!
La partenza dalla malga è prevista alle ore 12:00, con arrivo nel centro del paese verso le 12:30. Dopo un’estate trascorsa in alpeggio, mucche e cavalli fanno ritorno a valle, dove saranno accolti nel centro di Anterivo. 💐🌼

Crossing the Alps on the E5 is an unforgettable experience, but it requires more than good hiking shoes. 🥾

Long stages, significant elevation gains, alpine terrain and changing weather conditions make good preparation essential. While many sections are technically moderate, some parts require solid alpine experience, sure-footedness and confidence in exposed terrain.

Especially at higher elevations, conditions can change quickly. Knowing the route, checking the weather and being prepared to adapt your plans are all part of a safe E5 adventure.

Respect the mountains, prepare well and enjoy the journey. ✨
