🌍 Strengthening global preparedness for future pandemics starts with knowledge, collaboration, and capacity building.

Scientists and public health professionals from around the world recently gathered at ICGEB Headquarters in Trieste for an intensive training programme focused on pandemic preparedness and biosecurity. Through hands-on learning and international exchange, participants enhanced their expertise in pathogen detection, surveillance, diagnostics, and laboratory biosafety.

By investing in scientific training and fostering global networks, we can build stronger health systems and improve our collective ability to respond to emerging infectious disease threats.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants, trainers, and partners who made this initiative a success.

This week, ICGEB HQ in Trieste has welcomed 10 staff members from South Africa’s CSIR for an intensive training on GMP, Quality Management Systems and bioprocessing. Combining theory with hands-on experience in ICGEB's pharma-compliant BDU facilities, participants are enhancing their expertise through QC case studies for biotherapeutics.
This programme supports stronger GMP compliance in LMICs, advancing the adoption of international best practices and access to affordable medicines.
Pictured with the group is guest lecturer Dr. Claudio Manzati, Lean Institute, long-standing collaborator of the ICGEB Biotechnology Development Unit and GMP expert.
