Ricordando la nostra partecipazione nel 2024 al Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, con Luca Cappellini e Thomas Brazzova ecco la cronaca finale dell'edizione 2026
Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2026: Manuel Lettenbichler (DE, KTM) wins the 30th edition of the world’s toughest Extreme Enduro race – and celebrates his fifth consecutive victory!
Trystan Hart (CAN, KTM) finished second, followed by Mario Roman (ESP, Husqvarna). 15 riders from 10 nations out of a total of 500 starters reached the finish line after 4 hours of extreme challenges.
Under perfect weather conditions and on an extremely selective race course, the “Iron Mountain” welcomed the 500 starters today, who took on the Erzberg at 1:00 PM. The world’s hardest Extreme Enduro race provided a spectacular backdrop for the tens of thousands of spectators who created an breathtaking atmosphere in the viewing areas along the 35-kilometer-long course. After the spectacular show program, the mixture of adrenaline, respect, and maximum tension enveloping the starting field was almost palpable. At exactly 1:00 PM, all the tension was released in the roar of the engines as the first starting row was sent off onto the mountain by Red Bull Erzbergrodeo mastermind Karl Katoch together with KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister, Heinz Kinigadner, Styria’s Governor Mario Kunasek, and the mayor of Eisenerz, Thomas Rauninger.
Immediately after the start, Brit Mitch Brightmore (GASGAS) from the Austrian X-GRIP Racing Team took the lead, closely followed by Lettenbichler and Hart. However, the German Red Bull KTM Factory rider took over the lead from Brightmore at Checkpoint 4 (out of 27) and never relinquished it until the finish. Lettenbichler built up a comfortable lead and finally crossed the finish line after a total time of 3:05:39 hours with a margin of almost 8 minutes over Trystan Hart. With his fifth consecutive victory, Manuel Lettenbichler draws level with another Erzberg legend: Taddy Blazusiak, who also won the race five times in a row from 2007 to 2011, and of course with Graham Jarvis – known as The G.O.A.T. (The Greatest Of All Time).
Behind Lettenbichler, a fierce battle for the remaining podium places erupted between Mitch Brightmore, Mario Roman, Teodor Kabakchiev (BG, Sherco), James Moore (RSA, Beta), and Jonny Walker (UK, Triumph). Walker, who was running in an excellent fourth place up to CP 10, punctured his radiator with a branch and had to retire prematurely. The positions between Brightmore, Roman, Kabakchiev, and Moore changed several times until Mario Roman finally prevailed with a superior performance and finished the race in third place.
The performance of the electric-powered motorcycles was impressive. With Eddie Karlsson, Toby Martyn, and Graham Jarvis, three electric motorcycles reached the finish line of the world’s toughest single-day race for the first time – a clear sign of this drive concept’s suitability for Hard Enduro sport!
In total, 15 riders from 10 nations reached the finish in the Milwaukee Action Arena, including several riders such as James Moore, Ashton Brightmore, Eddie Karlsson, Lorenzo Gandola, Toby Martyn, and Ryder LeBlond, who celebrated their first finish at the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo.
The course layout once again delivered breathtaking drama
The Red Bull Erzbergrodeo is regarded as the toughest challenge in the Extreme Enduro scene, and the 35-kilometer course did not disappoint in 2026 either. The splitting of the legendary “Carl’s Dinner” section into two separate parts (Checkpoint 10 and 22 out of 27) significantly raised the difficulty level for the 500 starters. The extremely selective terrain at checkpoints such as “Blakläder Zentrum am Berg,” “Wacker Neuson,” “Speedweek Machine,” “The SegWAY,” and “Dynamite” demanded every last reserve from the participants right from the start and created high tension until the very end.

The Hard Enduro World Ranking (HEWR) is the first globally unified points system for Extreme and Hard Enduro sport. It evaluates rider performances across all renowned international races and creates a fair world ranking for the athletes. Similar to the ATP/WTA tennis system, riders can participate in as many races as they wish per season and collect Hard Enduro World Ranking points. After each event, the ranking is automatically updated and published online at enduroworldranking.com. The Red Bull Erzbergrodeo counts as a Supreme event, awarding the maximum of 2,000 points to the winner. With his dominant triumph, Lettenbichler therefore takes over the top spot in the current Hard Enduro World Ranking standings.
