ADI Trento - Association representing PhD candidates and PhD graduates in Italy - Trento Section

1. What is ADI? What does ADI do?

ADI Trento - Associazione Dottorandi e Dottori di Ricerca Italiani - Sezione di Trento

Association representing PhD candidates and PhD graduates in Italy - Trento Section ADI is the only national union for precarious workers in accademia and gives representation and protection to doctoral students, PhD graduates, research fellows and, more generally, young researchers in Italy. ADI is independen

t of political parties, and it is built upon the voluntary work of PhD students and graduates who dedicate their time to improve the living and research conditions of everyone.

2. We are fighting for the increase in the number and amount of doctoral scholarships, the overcoming of the doctorate without scholarship, the extension of the social safety nets to all the precarious research workers, the reform and funding of academic recruitment, the enhancement of the PhD title on the job market.

3. What is ADI Trento? The local office in Trento is a point of reference for doctoral students and PhD graduates who work in Trento and nearby offices (Rovereto, Povo, San Michele, etc.), promoting meetup opportunities between doctoral students and providing support during and after the PhD program at the University of Trento.

4. What does ADI Trento do? ADI Trento intends to raise awareness among PhDs about their rights and duties, and with respect to the problems that often afflict PhD programs, including the lack of representation in the institutional bodies of the universities, the limited connectivity and aggregation among PhDs within and across departments, and the new scenarios introduced by recent legislative decrees. Interested in participating? We have biweekly meetings (date and place in our facebook events), they are non-commital and open to all without obligation. However, if you like what we do and want to be part of the association/support us please consider to subscribe to ADI by contacting our local office ([email protected]) or by visiting the national website www.dottorato.it

Need help or support? Write to us on the Listening Desk ([email protected]) about any PhD-related question or problem (research, administration, supervisors, social life, accommodation, personal problems, etc.), and we will do our best to help you! Want to meet more PhDs in Trento? Attend one of our biweekly meetings or keep an eye open for the events we host and organise.

As a community of doctoral candidates and researchers at the University of Trento, we express our dismay and outrage at the illegal boarding of the Global Sumud Flotilla ( ) in international waters by Israeli occupation forces.
But we will not take a single step back. We carry the torch passed on by our comrades of the Flotilla and follow their example. We are the land Flotilla — we have been in recent weeks in the squares, and we will continue to be for as long as necessary. Our eyes remain on Gaza, on the Palestinian people, on the volunteers still unjustly detained, and on the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and the ship Conscience, which were intercepted just last night ( ).

In the past weeks countless people took to the streets to defend our humanity and wrest control from the hands of those who plan and profit from wars, aggression and despicable genocides. From the hands of criminal and terrorist states such as Israel. Trento has blocked everything, both in university and in the streets!

We, as an academic community, have a moral duty to save the independence of critical thinking and research from war. We must be united in saying no to funding grants paid for with blood.
Block everything, let’s act and free ourselves. Viva la Flotilla, free Palestine, all eyes on Gaza!

📰 🆕 We wanted to be the first ones to give you the breaking news, but someone was ahead of us!

Last Thursday, 18 September, the ADI Trento congress took place, during which we were able to reconnect with our community and reflect on who we are and what we want to be. We not only reflected on our community, but also on our collaborative relationship with other associations and assemblies. We then had the opportunity to discuss how to move forward on more political issues, such as the reform of the pre-role and the very serious humanitarian crisis and g3noc1d3 in P4l3st1n3 🍉

The congress assembly led to the election of the new local coordination team composed of Mattia Galante (coordinator), Beatrice Caniglia (vice coordinator), Sofia Ricciolo (organisational manager), Alessia Battistella (treasurer) and Federica Ress (communications manager).

It was exciting to meet up again and see some new faces. A great challenge awaits us: to welcome more and more people and ensure that this community can be a safe place in many ways, but above all a bridge for working together with many other organisations here in Trento and beyond.

We can't wait to start again, you will always find us here! As always, the meeting for all members, but also for those who want to get to know us, is every Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Café de la Paix (Passaggio Teatro Osele, 8).
See you soon 🍎
