33OC is an artist-run collective, based in Toffia, Italy, which hosts an international Artist Residency program and produces theater and music performances, film programs, workshops and other cultural events. It aims to operate as a regenerative social and cultural meeting place, while becoming a discussion platform for artistic production. Our goal is to preserve the diversity of nature and cultu
re of Sabina region and to prevent the 'museification' of Toffia – a small and quiet medieval hilltop village in the middle of Sabina – by offering a shared place of cultural and social exploration for national and international artists, the local community and people from various cultural fields. Through the Artist Residency program, 33OC wants to engage international artists in a discussion on the possible relationships between art, society and territory. The program was developed to become a creative space seeded in the local cultural landscape of Toffia, where international artists can share places, experiences and sensibilities. It is thought that both artistic action and research are helped in their interpretation of reality through close contact with the object of their study. The social cohesion of the small village becomes an element of artistic research. The aim of the residency is to challenge perceptions about how Art is made and integrated in everyday life by devising alternative scenarios for introducing ideas into the public realm. Every Autumn, for more than 10 years, 33OC produces a series of theater performances "10 Spettacoli per un Teatro" in which artists from all over Italy performed to great acclaim in front of the local audience.
