Archaeological Discovery Programs is one of a number of projects designed to bridge the gap between Australia and Italy. Many archaeology studies and projects are focused on and around the bigger, better known sites in Italy, Pompei, Carsulae, etc. However there are many more unexplored and unpublished sites just as important as those that have been discovered and invested in to date..... These s
ites are protected by the various Comune, Superindents, Provinces and Regions and due to the current economic climate and lack of funding available there is little support to explore, excavate and preserve these sites. Little is documented and most of the information about them has been handed down through generations of locals and sites are cleared by small groups of hobby archaeologists lead by one or two Italian Archaeology groups or Archaeologists. The opportunity exists for us to work with these groups who need funding and offer assistance, expertise and labour to work and support at the local level. Founded by Peta Lowry, owner and founder of Australia Consulenza, Peta is working with Australian organisations based in Italy and various local Archaeologists and Archaeology Groups in Tuscia to bring together an exploratory program which will tour a variety of sites and seek insight into ways of working with local communities to continue to develop the programs. The inaugural program will be held in Soriano nel Cimino in July 2015. It is open to Archaeological enthusiasts, students, teachers and professors from all over the world. More information about our programs will be posted in the coming weeks. For specific information or to book, please private message us.
