For Urban October, we’re looking at the innovations making cities more sustainable, resilient and livable — including one we’ve been putting to work since 2018.

One global open-air museum, bringing art and sustainability together.

Each mural will raise awareness about environmental and social challenges while actively helping improve air quality through pollution-absorbing paint.

YOURBAN2030 joined IRAE at the 14th edition of Ragusa Foto Festival in Ragusa Ibla, Sicily.
This year’s theme, Archetipi Mediterranei, explores the Mediterranean through its territories, identities and communities, and photography as a way to observe how places are lived, remembered and transformed.🌍🩷
We were excited to bring YOURBAN2030’s perspective to this conversation alongside IRAE.

Every mural is a labor of love.

There are months of planning behind every wall, followed by long days of painting, problem-solving, coordinating and bringing it all together.

And through it all, layer by layer, pollution-absorbing paint turns that work into something that will keep contributing to the city long after we’re gone.

A lot goes into every wall. That’s what makes each one so special to us.🌍🩷

Travel is one of the great privileges we have: the chance to experience places, cultures and environments beyond our own.

But being welcomed into a place also comes with a responsibility to care for it.

This World Tourism Day, we’re reflecting on how we can honor the privilege of seeing more of the world by being mindful of what we leave behind, supporting the communities that welcome us and protecting the places we’re lucky enough to experience.

The more of the world we get to know, the more of it we have a reason to care for. 🌎

It all started with one pollution-absorbing mural in Rome.
In 2018, Hunting Pollution became Europe’s largest pollution-absorbing mural, showing how public art could bring environmental issues into the heart of the city while actively helping reduce air pollutants.

Now, that idea has crossed the Atlantic.

From Rome to New York City, we’re using pollution-absorbing paint to create murals inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, bringing global challenges into public spaces while helping reduce pollution in the air around them.

One mural became a movement. And we’re still painting. 🌍🩷

In June 2025, we turned this blank wall behind a children’s playground in Hell’s Kitchen into Botanical Pulse — a 200 m² mural by Fabio Petani, created with pollution-absorbing paint to help clean the surrounding air and bring more color to the city.

Part of Walls of Tomorrow, our mission to bring the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals to the streets of New York through art.🌍🩷

Protecting our atmosphere takes action at every level. 🌎
On International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, we’re celebrating Hunting Pollution, Yourban2030’s first project and Europe’s largest pollution-absorbing mural.
Created in Rome by Iena Cruz using Airlite paint, the 1,000 m² mural helps reduce pollutants in the surrounding air.
A reminder that the spaces around us can be part of building a healthier future.

Art has been part of the environmental conversation for decades, and some artists have taken that role quite literally. 🌎

They’ve created works that interact with the environment itself, experimenting with ways to address pollution, land use and the way we relate to the places around us.
For Climate Week, we’re looking back at three artists who showed us just how much art can do.

Their work continues to inspire the idea behind Yourban2030: using creativity not only to start conversations, but to contribute to healthier, more sustainable cities.
