Hiding in Venice!!

The Book Fairies are sharing copies of Moonlight Express by Monisha Rajesh along train lines and at stations all around the UK today!

Who will be lucky enough to spot one on their journey? This book is currently Waterstones Non-Fiction Book of the Month!

About the book:

The magic of the night train: headlamps ablaze, passengers boarding after sunset and arriving in new cities at dawn.

For Monisha Rajesh, the unique thrill of sleeper trains inspired a new journey around the world. From sipping pisco sours aboard the Andean Explorer to retracing the original route of the Orient Express, Moonlight Express takes us on an unexpected, at times hilarious adventure - and drops us back at the platform before sunrise.

“From up here on the Palatine, the noise of the streets is faint, but still the Empire’s capital never rests. Carts rumble and clatter over the stones at all hours, and down there, below the Imperial palace, Amara knows the smell is foetid not flowery.”

Hiding in the streets of Rome!

The Book Fairies are celebrating the paperback release day of the dramatic final instalment of Elodie Harper’s Wolf Den trilogy by sharing copies of The Temple of Fortuna!

About the book:

A courtesan in Rome. Playing for power. Haunted by her past. Her name is Amara. How will her fortunes fall?

Amara’s journey has taken her far, from a lowly slave in Pompeii’s brothel to a high-powered courtesan in Rome. She is now a freedwoman with wealth and influence, yet she is still drawn back to her past.

For while Amara is caught up in the political scheming of the Imperial palace, her daughter remains in Pompeii, raised by the only man she ever truly loved. Although she longs for her family, Amara knows they are safest while she is far away. Perhaps, with enough cunning and courage, she will manage to turn Fortuna’s wheel in their favour.

But the year is AD 79, and Mount Vesuvius is preparing to make itself known…

The Temple of Fortuna is the dramatic final instalment in Elodie Harper’s Sunday Times-bestselling Wolf Den trilogy, which reimagines the lives of women who have long been overlooked.

Our seventh birthday is not far away now! We are delighted that so, so, SO many of you are joining in with the celebrations. Please comment below with which book(s) you are hiding on our birthday, and where! Have a look at other fairies’ comments, too, as you might spot some near you!

We have sent out most of the birthday packs, with just the UK ones to go out this week. While it’s now too late to get a pack, you can still use the stickers you have (or order some more quickly from the website!) to join in. There will be plenty of other ways to celebrate, too, if you don’t have a book to hide.

Exciting!

As we come to the end of the year, we are encouraging book fairies around the WORLD to go through their book shelves, give their preloved books another life, and share them around their neighbourhoods, where they work or travel 🧚‍♀️ It’s also a good time of year to have a look at your TBR and see which ones you may be happy to part with, to gift to a stranger 🥰 Which books will YOU be sharing and hiding in the last days of 2023? Tell us in the comments or post a pic of your preparations using !
