Florian and Eva presented the Erasmus project “Deaf Culture, Heritage and Diversity” on September 13 at the 5th Education Congress in Vienna. The Education Congress was organized by the Austrian Deaf Association (ÖGLB) This year’s theme was: “Sign.Language.Education – Strengthening Sign Language, Improving Education.”
The Education Congress has existed since 2010 and takes place alternately in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.📷ÖGLB/Martin Juen .at

📸 Erasmus+ Project Meeting — Deaf Culture, Heritage and Diversity
From Monday 27th to Tuesday 28th, partners gathered at the Istituto dei Sordi di Torino for a productive meeting to finalise the upcoming work and next steps of the project.

It was a great opportunity to share progress, align on final tasks, and strengthen our collaboration toward promoting Deaf culture, heritage, and diversity across Europe.

📢 Exciting News for the Deaf Community in Europe! 🌍✨

A recent survey highlights the urgent need for a robust Deaf Studies curriculum that resonates with the Deaf community! Key findings reveal:

🔹 Over 85% prioritize education on Deaf identity and culture.
🔹 80% emphasize the importance of Deaf history and heritage. 🔹 A strong demand for sign language linguistics education from more than 80% of respondents.
🔹 Mental health topics, including identity development and coping with audism, are crucial for well-being.
🔹 Visual and interactive learning methods are preferred for effective education.
