It is the night that robs the curve of its wholeness. It yields but a fragment. The rest remains beyond the threshold of the visible. The curve never describes a place; rather, it turns it into a liminal condition; an inflection point where space and time lose their own narrative distinctiveness.

Lives and works in Milan)Francesco Pacelli’s artistic research moves between sculpture, drawing, and immersive installations to give shape to alternative scenarios that challenge the boundaries of rationality. Science and alchemy, biology and spirituality, nature and artifice collide, hovering halfway between the real and the possible. For the artist, the transformation of matter becomes a means to redefine the way we interpret the present.

È la notte a sottrarre alla curva la sua interezza. Ne concede un frammento. Il resto permane oltre la soglia del visibile. La curva non descrive mai un luogo, piuttosto ne fa una condizione liminale; un punto di flessione in cui spazio e tempo perdono la propria peculiarità narrativa.

Familiar Errors.
Practices Between Illusion, Space, and Identity

Taken together, these practices propose the uncanny as a critical and social experience, in which trompe-l’œil and estrangement become tools for questioning perception, cultural norms, and invisible structures of power. The viewer is not merely an observer, but an active agent invited to participate, to interrogate their own perceptions and beliefs, and to establish a direct dialogue with the works and with the reality that surrounds them.

We are pleased to present EMERGE’s 2026 programme, UNCANNY MOMENTS, a journey into the Unheimliche, from Sigmund Freud to Mark Fischer.

Errori familiari.
Pratiche tra illusione, spazio e identità

Nel loro insieme, queste pratiche propongono un’idea di uncanny come esperienza critica e sociale, in cui il trompe-l’œil e lo straniamento diventano strumenti per interrogare la percezione, le norme culturali e le strutture di potere invisibili. Lo spettatore non è solo osservatore, ma agente attivo: chiamato a partecipare, a mettere in discussione le proprie percezioni e convinzioni e a instaurare un dialogo diretto con le opere e con la realtà che le circonda.

Siamo lieti di presentare il programma 2026 di EMERGE, UNCANNY MOMENTS: un percorso all’interno dell’Unheimliche, da Sigmund Freud a Mark Fischer.

Reading, in this context, is never passive: it is an act of listening, surrender, and activation of the subtlest senses, an invitation to allow oneself to be traversed by the work in its entirety. Within this sensory dialogue, every detail, every tonal variation, and every vibration of the composite material becomes part of a meditative experience in which the mind relaxes and the surrounding space grows indistinct. Each exhibited work is conceived as an autonomous unit, while the space separating the works is carefully orchestrated by the artist in order to enhance their intimacy.

Within the play of vision, every detail simultaneously recedes and attracts, every surface invites attentive exploration. Perception extends beyond sight, engaging an apparent sense of touch, sensory memory, and inner rhythm. Here a holistic, synaesthetic experience takes shape, one in which signifiers accumulate and overlap, transforming the artwork into a field of possibilities: not an immediate truth, but a stimulating synaptic experience capable of provoking both wonder and reflection.

Often elusive, Drvarič’s works require the suspension of sophisticated logic in favour of more elementary perceptual instincts. This does not entail abandoning the intellect, but rather relinquishing the need to define and circumscribe what is perceived, in order to approach a more authentic engagement with the work, whose meaning emerges gradually, suspended between intuition and contemplation.
