⠀
In Perugia you don’t visit music. You live in it. 🇮🇹
From breakfast to the last chord at night. 🎹🌙

🎻 “Taking part in this course changed the way I relate to music.”

📜 From our archive: Chiaki Nakayama joined us from Japan in 2011. Here she looks back on two weeks in Perugia 🇯🇵➡️🇮🇹

🇯🇵

🇬🇧
“Perugia is a quiet, safe little town where I felt completely at ease. 🏡

Every day brought a lesson with a different teacher and a new way of thinking about music. 🎼

People here enjoy music purely, from the heart, with none of the rivalry we feel at competitions. 💛

After my concerto, so many teachers and fellow students came up with smiles to congratulate me and shake my hand. I was truly moved. 👏

Taking part in this course changed the way I relate to music.” ✨

When the music takes over and time stands still. ✨
A glimpse of tonight’s magic with the orchestra at Music Fest Perugia.

🎻 What feelings does this piece bring out for you?

Everyone laughs through Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

Almost nobody knows what’s really hiding behind it.

A forgotten aria. A recycled overture. Even Beethoven couldn’t stop talking about it.

We’re telling the story — one surprising fact at a time. 🎭

Nobody tells you this about music festivals 👀

You come for the masterclasses.
You come for the orchestra.
You come for Italy 🇮🇹

But what you remember most?
The people.

The ones who were just as nervous backstage.
The ones who clapped the loudest after your concerto.
The ones you’re still texting months later.

Some festivals teach music.
Some perform it 🎹
⠀
“It is a rare privilege to be part of a festival where music is not simply performed and taught, but truly lived.”
⠀
— Dmitri Novgorodsky, Piano Faculty 💛
⠀
In every concert, every encounter and every shared moment. That’s how music lives in Perugia.
⠀
Thank you, Dmitri, for your music, your teaching and these beautiful words. We can’t wait to welcome you back in 2027 🇮🇹
