🍲💪 Community, culture, and empowerment are at the heart of Areej Husam’s inspiring journey through the job shadowing programme.

Coming from Jordan, Areej is developing a business idea to support women-led community kitchens that preserve traditional food cultures while generating income for local families.
Her job shadowing took place in Zarqa, with a collective of women preparing and selling traditional meals at markets and events. There, Areej witnessed how food can be much more than nourishment—it becomes a tool for dignity, identity, and shared ownership.

Through this hands-on experience, Areej is now working on a practical guide to help more women set up informal kitchens with low-cost tools and culturally rooted approaches.

💡🌱 Tech meets food resilience in the inspiring journey of Maryam Salah Muhammad, a young entrepreneur from Jordan who joined the FoodBack job shadowing experience.

Maryam’s goal? To design affordable digital tools that help small-scale urban farmers monitor water, light, and nutrients—making smart agriculture more accessible. 📲🌿
Her job shadowing took place in Amman with a smart farming initiative working on urban hydroponics. There, she explored how technology can be simple, scalable, and people-centered, especially for those with no tech background.

This experience helped Maryam shift her focus, refine her prototype, and gain confidence to bring her vision to life.

🥬✨ From bubbling jars to business vision — this is the journey of Nicolò Michelini, one of the young entrepreneurs supported by the FoodBack project.

With a strong passion for fermentation and food sustainability, Nicolò took part in our job shadowing at La Buona Terra (Italy), turning theory into action. There, he tested how fermentation can be part of a circular food system, helping reduce waste while offering nutritious and creative products. 🌱🥕🍶
From designing workflows and tracking every step of production, to learning about finances, logistics, and educational tools—this experience helped him bring clarity and maturity to his business idea.

🌱✨ “Start doing, step by step.” That’s the biggest takeaway Ivana shared from her Job Shadowing experience through the FoodBack project.

Originally from 🇫🇷 France, Ivana joined the team of La Buona Terra (Italy) with a dream: one day, to create her own farm that reconnects people with their food 🐓🌾
Through this hands-on experience, she designed a vegetable garden from scratch, studied water systems and soil, created terraces with volunteers, and explored how to balance planning and doing in real agroecological work. 🛠️💧
Her job shadowing wasn’t about sitting in an office—it was about learning tools, managing people, testing, failing, and growing something real from the land.

💡✨ From ideas to action! Through the project, young participants had the opportunity to experience a job shadowing period in inspiring organisations across Europe.
Today we spotlight Francesca, who spent four weeks at Asociación Brújula Intercultural in Burgos, learning how strategic communication can make a sustainable business thrive 🌱📣. From drafting a marketing strategy for her own project LaVanDino, to exploring branding, audience targeting and pitching ideas to potential partners, Francesca’s experience was a deep dive into the world of digital marketing with a social impact. 💻📊

She joined meetings, created content, received mentorship, and most of all—gained the confidence to take the next steps toward launching her eco-conscious business idea! 💪🌍

🧑‍🌾✨ FRANCESCA'S EXPERIENCE AT EL PUCHERO DE VILLASUR! 🍅🐴
As part of her journey in the Project, Francesca took part in a one-month job shadowing at the agroecological cooperative El Puchero de Villasur, in Villasur de Herreros (Burgos) 🇪🇸.
🌿 She discovered the day-to-day challenges and beauty of running a sustainable cooperative: organizing weekly veggie boxes, taking part in deliveries, learning about agroforestry, and even cooking for more than 30 people during events!

💡 Francesca brought her passion for cooking and left with hands-on knowledge and new motivation to build her own project in the sustainable food world.

📍✨ Final Evaluation Meeting 🫂💚
Passignano sul Trasimeno, Italy | 23–27 March 🇮🇹

After three years of learning, collaboration, and impact, the partners gathered in Passignano sul Trasimeno for the final evaluation meeting, hosted by Associazione Kora, the project coordinator, at La Buona Terra.🌱

Together with our 10 partners from Italy, Spain, Germany, Morocco, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Estonia we celebrated the milestones of this inspiring journey:
🌍 9 international study visits exploring local food systems
🚀 9 Local workshops where more than 90 young people brought their ideas to life
🫂 1 International Youth Seminar
💡 More than 25 business plans developed by young people across Europe and the Mediterranean
📚 A rich toolkit of resources for ethical and sustainable agri-food entrepreneurship
🎤 8 Online talks connecting young people with experts and changemakers in the field

This final meeting marked not an end, but a celebration of everything we’ve built—from ideas and skills to connections and community. The seeds we planted together are just the beginning. 🌾💚
