Join us for Holy Eucharist this Sunday, 18 October 2026, at 10.30 as we keep the Feast of Saint Luke.

He wrote the Gospel of Luke and, we believe, also the Acts of the Apostles. Saint Luke is traditionally remembered as a physician. Paul refers to him as the beloved physician in Colossians 4:14. He is the patron saint of physicians, surgeons, artists, notaries, and also butchers. He is typically represented by a winged ox or calf, symbolizing sacrifice and service.

In parts of Europe, the period around his feast day is historically known as "St. Luke's Little Summer" due to there regularly being a short stretch of mild, sunny weather at this time. During our service we will consider what we can learn from the life and example of Saint Luke.

San Luca è tradizionalmente ricordato come medico.

Will we go to the party?
This Sunday Jesus tells a story about a magnificent banquet held by a king, to which the rich and famous were all invited. Suddenly the guests, who had all promised to be there, turned down the invitation, made excuses and became enemies of the king. Maybe this sounds ridiculous, why would everybody treat the king in such a fashion when they had been invited as special guests to his feast?

However, Jesus has a serious point to make. God, through Jesus, was inviting people to his banquet as special guests. However, the members of the established church, the honoured guests, did not accept the invitation. Today the story is still relevant. Now the invitation is made to each of us, we are all invited to share in the celebration of God's kingdom. We have our invitations; will we attend or not?

All are welcome to join us for Holy Communion and fellowship

Abbiamo ricevuto i nostri inviti; ci presenteremo o no?

This weekend we remember St Francis from whose life we can all learn. Through bitter experience, he realised that worldly goods are worthless. True peace cannot be bought, rather it is a precious gift from God.

Join us this Sunday 4 October at 10.30am as we keep the Feast of St Francis.
All are welcome!
Join us for refreshments after the service.
