dryGrow Foundation is supporting a project in the semiarid region of Kenya! We are adding value to the local community by finding uses to Opuntia stricta, an invasive cactus species in the region. They are using the cactus for biogas for cooking, reducing deforestation. There is also potential to use as livestock feed by making cactus pellets! dryGrow is providing basic needs like water tanks, lights using solar energy, beehives, and vertical gardens.

Another full day in Kenya visiting the households participating in our project (dryGrow, JKUAT, UF IFAS)! Kenneth got his goat project started! Thanks for all families supporting the project!

We had a great day today engaging with the local community benefited by our project (UF, dryGrow, JKUAT). It was nice to see the cactus pellet, cactus biogas, bee hives, water tanks, and to learn from the community what would be important for the next steps! Thanks Prof. Willis Owino for the collaboration! This is also the PhD project of Kenneth Oduor!
