Dopo mesi di cammini, incontri e riflessioni collettive, si chiude il percorso dei Workshop UDEW: 20 tappe in 5 Paesi europei - più di 200 partecipanti - per esplorare come le nostre città raccontano (o nascondono) le storie legate a colonialismo, migrazione e memoria.
Ogni camminata è diventata un laboratorio di pensiero condiviso — tra studenti, operatori, cittadini e artisti — per riscoprire i luoghi e riscrivere insieme le narrazioni urbane.
Il video finale è in preparazione: presto condivideremo i volti, le voci e i luoghi che hanno dato forma a questo viaggio.

After months of walks, encounters, and collective reflections, the journey of the UDEW Workshops comes to an end: 20 stages across 5 European countries – more than 200 participants – exploring how our cities reveal (or conceal) stories of colonialism, migration, and memory.
Each walk became a shared space of learning and imagination — bringing together students, professionals, citizens, and artists — to rediscover places and rewrite urban narratives together.
The final video is on its way: soon we’ll share the faces, voices, and places that shaped this journey.

🇮🇹 Ieri a Padova hanno preso il via i workshop del progetto , un momento di confronto e approfondimento sulle relazioni tra spazi urbani, eredità coloniale e razzismi contemporanei. La giornata si è concentrata sull’analisi delle dinamiche coloniali e della colonialità, mettendo in luce come queste influenzino ancora oggi le strutture sociali e politiche.

Oggi la discussione si è focalizzata sul razzismo antislavo, un fenomeno spesso marginalizzato nella memoria collettiva. Attraverso spunti storici, testimonianze e percorsi di ricerca, abbiamo ricostruito le tappe di questa forma di discriminazione e il suo impatto sulle comunità coinvolte.

I workshop sono realizzati grazie alla collaborazione con l’ , Serena Rialza e gli studenti del corso di Metodi Qualitativi e Visuali per la Ricerca Sociale della prof.ssa , il cui contributo e impegno sono stati fondamentali.

📍 Nei prossimi giorni continueremo a esplorare questi temi con nuove sessioni di discussione e ricerca.

🇬🇧 Yesterday, the UDEW project workshops started in Padua, offering a space for discussion and reflection on the connections between urban spaces, colonial legacy, and contemporary racisms. The first session focused on analyzing colonial dynamics and coloniality, highlighting how these structures continue to shape social and political realities today.

Today, the discussion shifted to anti-Slavic racism, a historical phenomenon often overlooked in collective memory. Through historical documents, testimonies, and research perspectives, we traced the key moments of this form of discrimination and its impact on affected communities.

These workshops are made possible through the collaboration with the Assemblea Antirazzista, Serena Rialza, and the students of the Qualitative and Visual Methods for Social Research course led by Prof. Annalisa Frisina, whose contributions and commitment have been essential.

📍 In the coming days, we will continue exploring these topics with further sessions of discussion and research.

🌍✨ During International Week for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we take time to reflect on the critical need to dismantle the barriers that perpetuate inequality.

Across European cities, public spaces have been shaped by histories of exclusion, segregation, and colonial legacies. These spaces should be inclusive, serving everyone equally, without reinforcing racial divides or biases.

As part of the project, we are committed to the decolonization of public spaces, reclaiming and transforming them into environments that embrace all cultures, histories, and identities. 🏛️🌱

Public spaces belong to all of us. This week, we stand in solidarity with communities fighting against racial discrimination and advocating for a future where everyone has an equal voice and space to thrive.

🌍 In questi giorni, dal 17 al 23 marzo 2025, è in corso la XXI edizione della Settimana di azione contro il razzismo, promossa dall' Ufficio Antidiscriminazioni Razziali-Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri su tutto il territorio nazionale 🇮🇹

Un'iniziativa importante per sensibilizzare e informare sulla cultura della parità di trattamento, del rispetto reciproco e della valorizzazione delle differenze. 💬✨

🌿 On December 5, as part of the Out4In Project, we went to Parco Etnografico di Rubano, in the countryside of Padua.
🍝 We kicked off the day by making homemade tagliatelle, learning the art of traditional pasta-making step by step. Later, we explored a typical Farmhouse, filled with the tools and stories of rural life from the past. To end the day, we took a peaceful walk in the wood, discovering different types of trees and connecting with nature. 🌱

🌿 As part of the Out4In Project, we had the incredible opportunity to explore the University of Padua’s Botanical Garden—recognized as the world’s oldest university botanical garden and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The visit started with a guided tour through the historic gardens, where we discovered the fascinating stories behind centuries-old plant species and the garden’s pioneering role in advancing botanical science. The journey continued in the interactive museum, where hands-on exhibits inspired curiosity and a deeper connection to the natural world. 🌍

🌿 Empowering Through Nature & History 🌸

Last Friday, we took an inspiring urban walk through Padua as part of the Out4In Project, which aims to empower migrant women through outdoor activities that foster personal growth, inclusion, and active citizenship.

During the walk, we explored Padua’s history, highlighting the achievements of remarkable women who made history. By celebrating these stories, participants not only connected with their surroundings but also gained confidence and a deeper appreciation for the power of women throughout history.

Empowering through Nature 🌿

In recent weeks, as part of the Out4In project, we have organized a series of events aimed at empowering migrant women through outdoor activities. These sessions incorporate lessons in nature and biology, fostering an appreciation for the environment while providing practical knowledge. Through these activities, participants build confidence, connect with their surroundings, and acquire valuable life skills. 🌸

This event will feature a panel discussion focused on enhancing access to sports and physical activity for Roma, Sinti, and Traveller communities and exploring how sports can be a powerful tool for anti-racism. The panellists—experts, advocates, and members of these communities—will share insights on overcoming barriers to inclusion in sports and discuss strategies to promote positive representation and solidarity through athletics.

Attendees in the event are also encouraged to visit the project’s exhibition on Roma, Sinti, and Travellers in Sport after the event. The exhibition details are below:
