“Volevamo stupirvi con effetti speciali e dobbiamo dire che ci siamo riusciti,” ecco la frase che meglio riassume questo nostro raduno durante il quale festeggiavamo i 15 anni di fondazione del nostro Club. Nonostante la meteo incerta dei giorni precedenti, abbiamo avuto un clima estivo: sole, caldo ed il cielo di un azzurro da sembrare finto tanto era bello. A completare il quadro, uno sciame di
110 auto tra Corvette e Camaro, quest’anno con una netta predominanza delle prime. Data ufficiale di inizio raduno, sabato 17 maggio, ma già venerdi sera abbiamo organizzato una cena per incontrare i numerosissimi stranieri che erano già arrivati in Italia. Equipaggi inglesi, svedesi, finlandesi, tedeschi, austriaci, lussemburghesi, svizzeri, slovacchi, olandesi oltre, naturalmente, a noi italiani hanno partecipato a quello che è ormai da anni l’evento internazionale Corvette & Camaro più importante d’Italia. Il sabato mattina, partenza da Peschiera Del Garda per raggiungere l’autodromo di Modena che avevamo riservato in esclusiva per il nostro club. Una volta arrivati, le vetture entravano in pista formando un serpentone variopinto che con lo sfondo del cielo terso ed azzurro dava l’impressione di essere un arcobaleno. Completate le registrazioni, si dava inizio ai giri di pista come preventivato ed il rombo dei nostri V8 americani risuonava nell’aria come un concerto diretto dal miglior direttore d’orchestra. Una festa dove abbiamo potuto dare sfogo ai desideri che sulla strada non sono permessi, il tutto in completa sicurezza. La sera, cena in quel di Peschiera Del Garda con le nostre auto parcheggiate in luogo riservato a bordo lago, a disposizione dei turisti che già numerosi affollavano la ridente cittadina. Giunta la domenica, il tripudio! Avevamo a disposizione Piazza Sordello a Mantova, il salotto buono della città, l’abbiamo colmata di auto e di persone intervenute a godersi tanta bellezza con l’aggiunta di qualche ciliegina davvero speciale sulla torta e cioè, in esclusiva, portataci dall’ amica Mandy,una splendida Corvette C7 Covertibile, prima C7 a girare in pista in Europa ed una magnificamente restaurata Corvette C2 da gara di proprietà dell’amico Daniele Vettoretti ed infine, il passaggio attorno alle nostre auto della 1000 Miglia edizione 2014. In tutta sincerità non potevamo fare di meglio! Arrivate le ore 11,00, raggruppavamo i nostri iscritti per raggiungere a piedi, data l’esigua distanza, il pontile della Navi Andes dove, attraccata ed addobbata magnificamente, c’era la loro motonave più bella: la Andes 2000, anche questa riservata esclusivamente al nostro club. Partivamo per una crociera che però si è arrestata di lì a poco tra la sorpresa più inaspettata per il gruppo. Girata la prua in direzione di Palazzo Gonzaga e Castel San Giorgio, veniva gettata l’ancora, e le note di una canzone di Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, risuonavano nell’aria ed i presenti si chiedevano cosa stesse succedendo. E’ bastato un attimo per capire: dalla scala di poppa appariva una figura vestita in modo inequivocabile. Bionda e fasciata in un abito rosso, con un bouquet in mano, cosa poteva significare? Ma sì, Alessandra vestita da sposa e Valter che dalla prua le andava incontro, la cingeva e l’accompagnava tra due ali di amici esterrefatti ed emozionati verso il capitano che, in qualità di ufficiale civile a bordo, alla presenza dei testimoni, celebrava quello che tutti i presenti hanno definito un matrimonio da favola. La nave riprendeva la navigazione attraverso il Lago Superiore, quello Inferiore, il Parco del Mincio e, dopo aver passato l’ascensore d’acqua in quel di Governolo, giungevamo nelle acque del Po. A bordo, dopo un’infinità di sorprese, compreso il festeggiamento del compleanno del nostro presidente Luigi Panto ed un ottimo pranzo, siamo tornati, godendo di panorami particolarmente suggestivi in quel di Mantova. "We wanted to impress you with special effects and we may say we did it." This is the phrase that best sums up this meeting during which we celebrated 15 years of foundation of our Club Despite the uncertain weather of the previous days, we had a summer weather: sunny, warm and the blue sky looking like fake, it was so beautiful. To complete the picture, a swarm of 110 Corvette and Camaro, this year with a clear predominance of the first ones. The official beginning of the rally was Saturday 17th May, but already Friday night we organized a dinner to meet lots of foreigners who had already arrived in Italy. British, Swedish, Finns, Germans, Austrians, Swiss, Slovaks, Dutch and, of course, Italians, have participated in what has been for years the most important international Corvette & Camaro event in Italy. On Saturday morning, starting from Peschiera Del Garda, we reached the Modena Autodrome, exclusively reserved for our club. Once there, the cars entered the track forming a colorful snake that with the background of the clear and blue sky gave the impression of being a rainbow. Completed the check in, we started the laps in the track as planned and the roar of the V8 resounded in the air like a concert conducted by the best orchestra conductor. A party where we could achieve the desires that are not allowed on the road, all in complete safety. In the evening, dinner in the Peschiera Del Garda with our cars parked in reserved place by the edge of the lake, at the disposal of tourists crowding the already numerous charming town. Awarding of drivers with the delivery of beautiful cups specially made for the occasion. Sunday came, with a riot! We filled Piazza Sordello in Mantova, the parlor of the city, with cars and people come to enjoy such beauty with the addition of some very special icing on the cake, that is, exclusively brought to us by our friend Mandy , a beautiful Convertible Corvette C7, first C7 running on track in Europe and a beautifully restored Corvette C2 property of our friend Daniel Vettoretti and finally, the passage around our car of the 1000 Miglia Edition 2014. Honestly, we could not do better! At 11.00, we all walked to the the Navi Andes pier where, moored and decked out beautifully, there was their most beautiful ship: the Andes 2000, exclusively reserved for our club. We set off for a cruise, but shortly after the trip was stopped for the most unexpected surprise of the meeting. Reached the bow in the direction of Gonzaga Palace and Castel San Giorgio, the anchor was thrown, and the notes of a Bryan Adams song - Everything I Do (I Do It For You), resounded in the air and those present wondered what was going on. It was just a moment to understand: from the steps of the stern a figure dressed in an unequivocal manner appeared. Blonde and wrapped in a red dress holding a bouquet, what could this mean? yes, Alessandra dressed as a bride and Valter from the heading of the boat reaching her, encircled and accompanied by two wings of friends amazed and excited and the captain who, as an civilian officer on board, in the presence of witnesses, celebrated what all the presents have defined a fairytale wedding. The ship resumed sailing through Lake Superior, the Lower, the Mincio Park and, after passing the water elevator, Governolo, where we reached the waters of the Po On board, after an infinite number of surprises, including the celebration of the birthday of our President Luigi Panto and a great lunch, we went back, enjoying beautiful views especially around Mantova area.
