---------- was created
in 1998, because African presence in Italy and Italians
interested to Africa were continually growing. It's been
promoted and realized through volunteers a

ctivity, both Africans
and university students. The centre will be an aggregation
point (both social and cultural) for all those interested in
african culture in the Lombardy region, and will implement
monitoring, focus projects, communicative and training
paths and solidarity activities. The diffusion of knowledge of african realities is imperative
for all school levels (from elementary to university) and
must be available to all. Africa is already present in several sectors in Italy, but this
presence is a non organized one, and it's penalized by the
distance between the traditional institutions (embassies,
consulates) and the single individuals or groups, often very
far from their usual social dimension, in a sub-proletarian
context. This presence, moreover, has never been coordinated in order
to help Italians understand African reality, it never gave
them the means necessary for research and knowledge, and
it also never helped africans to reunite with their own african
cultural points of reference. These are the reasons why it was necessary to create a centre
aimed at the social service, but also at the cultural connection
and reference between Italians and Immigrants
The common vision of the diversities as source of reciprocal
enrichment, the awareness that solidarity, cultural exchange,
and relations between people are today the only way to face
the globalized context we live in, has been therefore very
important. It's an idea that has proved successful over the years and has
gathered consensus among the italian and african institutions,
helping the COSA association to grow and put into
concrete form initiatives and projects for the promotion of a
different image of the African continent in Italy. It emphasized
those cultural and value aspects that the media did not
consider enough, aspects that are yet part of life, colours and
african spirit. The centre assets are several initiatives for the solving of social
needs, both through services or concrete actions, aimeddirectly at single persons or discussion moments in which to
understand problems and define practical solutions. For example:
• assistance to Italians who would like to improve their
knowledge of Africa.
• Information to immigrants for a better orientation
and good integration.
• Help to immigrant children for homework.
• Help to pre-graduates and researchers in order to find
bibliographic material for their studies on Africa
• Children Library at the Biblioteca Rionale (opening
March, 20th 2009 in Milan
• training projects for Senegaleses in their home country.
• Documentary creation in order to help immigrant
women’s expression.
• Help for immigrant children’s homework with the
Senegal Association in Bergamo
• Access to electricity for the village of Khourdan in
Senegal, co-financed by Allianz global Assistance
• The mother to be house
• In the Future the training center for mother to be

C.O.S.A. Odv is happy to share a message about the impact of one of our youth projects. Together, we can make a difference not only in education but also in sports! 🤾‍♀️🥅🤾

Through our support of World Medical Colours’ ultrasound training project in Tanzania, COSA helps bring life-saving education to the most remote communities of Unguja and Pemba. By covering travel costs for teachers, we ensure that health professionals can be trained where they are needed most, creating a self-sustaining cycle where today’s students become tomorrow’s teachers.
Together, we are expanding access to medical diagnosis in low-resource settings.Thank you for being part of this impact!🇹🇿✨

By supporting WMC’s ( World Medical Colours) Ultrasound Project in Developing Countries, C.O.S.A covers travel expenses for local teachers, allowing them to reach students in the most remote and disadvantaged areas of Unguja and Pemba, in Tanzania. By helping their "iTeachers" to reach these distant classrooms, we are bringing life-saving skills directly to where they are needed most, training health professionals who will stay and serve their own communities. Thus building a self-sustaining system where the best students eventually become the next teachers. The fund acts as a multiplier, speeding up this cycle and ensuring the project can grow and thrive long-term. C.O.S.A is a key partner in WMC'S mission to improve access to medical diagnosis in places with limited resources.

A heartfelt ceremony took place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Koungheul Health Center, where laptops and medical equipment, including two ventilators, were handed over.

During the event, Fofana Diafar, the COSA Focal Point, took a moment to emphasize the significance of COSA’s efforts in enhancing healthcare for the Koungheul community.

He highlighted the importance of using the donated equipment and communication tools wisely, pointing out how crucial they are for effective communication and the swift sharing of health information among staff in the various units of the Koungheul health district.

He also expressed his appreciation to the COSA ODV association and Dr. El Malick Niang for their support. The Chief Medical Officer, through Baye Ndiaye, also extended his thanks to COSA ODV, confirming that the ventilators will play a key role in ensuring the operating theatre runs smoothly, while the laptops will aid in data entry during medical campaigns.

What truly resonates with us✨
As we reflect on 2025, what touches our hearts the most isn’t the numbers or reports.
It’s the faces, the voices, the hands we’ve encountered.
It’s the feeling that we receive just as much as we give.

The biggest lesson of this year has been this: giving is already whole.
It doesn’t need applause.
It doesn’t need to be spotlighted.
It simply fosters goodness: quietly, naturally, profoundly.
And Thanks to each of you who support us, in big ways, small ways, and even in silence, we can
keep moving forward.

Our holiday wishes✨
May this season bring you:
peace in the chaos
light in tough times
hope for your endeavors
gratitude for your generosity

Here’s to 2026 being a year of growth, collaboration, and shared humanity.
And may your contributions, no matter how small or unseen, continue to blossom into real
opportunities for the communities we serve.
With warmth and heartfelt thanks,
C.O.S.A. Odv✨🇸🇳

The report for the 19th and 20th.

Yesterday, Sunday, October 19th, five patients presented themselves at the Koungheul health center and were seen during the morning. Two of them showed severe psychiatric disorders; the first was a young woman of 25 who displayed symptoms of psychotic decompensation, so much so that admission to the hospital was proposed, which the family refused. She was therefore discharged with a pharmacological prescription and an invitation to return for a reassessment.
The second was an elderly man in the manic phase of a bipolar disorder. He was also discharged with a treatment plan.

Monday, October 20th, we saw 14 patients; 6 without neuro-psychiatric problems, 4 suffering from epilepsy, one with Parkinson's disease, and one young woman with a probable manic episode.

We also saw two children under the age of six who presented with severe brain damage. The first following a cerebral infection, the second following a head trauma due to the collapse of his house while he was having breakfast.

October 17th, 2025 – Ndiassane, Senegal
On October 17th, 2025, the second day of consultations organized by the C.O.S.A. association took place at the Poste de Santé in Ndiassane. Two clinics were open to the public: one for gynecology and one for internal medicine.

At 9 a.m., our gynecologist and the local midwife warmly welcomed 35 women with gynecological conditions. Throughout the day, Imir worked tirelessly to attend to each patient individually, completing the last consultation at 8 p.m. Among the women examined, pregnant patients underwent their regular prenatal check-ups, during which one case of anembryonic pregnancy and one fetal cardiac arrhythmia were detected. Non-pregnant women mainly presented with dysmenorrhea or difficulties in conceiving.

Meanwhile, in the internal medicine clinic, the European team, together with their motivated local colleagues from Ndiassane, provided consultations to around 40 patients of all ages and both sexes. Most of the cases involved hypertension, headaches, back pain, generalized pain, and osteoarthritis. Other conditions included skin rashes, incontinence, candidiasis, pneumonia, and gastrointestinal issues.

As always, the language barrier posed a challenge, patient compliance varied, and the day was long and intense—but the spirit of collaboration, cultural exchange, and mutual learning made it profoundly rewarding. The team looks forward with enthusiasm to the days ahead.

Report day 1 - C.O.S.A. ODV MENTAL HEALTH & GYNECOGICAL visits 16 october afternoon 2025 Ndiassane Senegal

On October 16, 2025, marking the first day of free medical consultations for the C.O.S.A. Association:

Two clinics were opened to the public in Ndiassane: the Gynecology Clinic and the Psychiatry Clinic.

A total of 8 women were seen in the first clinic, and 7 patients in the second.

The patients seen in the clinics were:

Gynecology Clinic: All were women aged between 18 and 40.

Psychiatry Clinic: Three were male and four were female, three of whom were under sixteen years of age.

In the Psychiatry Clinic, women were given a questionnaire concurrently with their consultation, which explored their economic, social, and family life conditions. The questionnaires administered revealed that one of the main problems present is domestic violence.

During the visits, it was observed that epilepsy remains the most widespread condition and the primary reason for consultation.

Regarding the Gynecology Clinic:
Three of the female patients were not pregnant: one had issues related to her menstrual cycle, another related to post-spontaneous abortion, and the last reported general abdominal pain of unclear origin.
The remaining patients were all pregnant in the first, second, or third trimester and came in for an ultrasound check and obstetric evaluation.

The case of a quintuplet patient (a woman who has had four previous births) must be mentioned. She was found to have gestational hypertension** (BP 170/100 MMHG) associated with a goiter. She was promptly treated with an antihypertensive and referred to the Thiene hospital for the necessary laboratory investigations.

The obstetric ultrasounds performed by the association's gynecologist were useful not only to the patients but also to the local midwife for putting into practice what she had learned during the association's previous missions.
