Insieme possiamo raggiungere qualsiasi obiettivo.

Hope regained for displaced women and the vulnerable population thanks to the distribution of kits and agricultural inputs in Uvira and Fizi

On June 11, 2026, the Association of Working Children and Young People of the DRC (AWCY-RDC) organized a major distribution activity of kits and agricultural inputs for displaced and vulnerable women in the territories of Uvira and Fizi. This activity is part of the project “Sustainable and resilient landscapes for the food security of rural households in South Kivu”, implemented with the financial support of the Dovetail Impact Foundation.

Beneficiaries received various agricultural inputs, including improved seeds, tillage tools and other essential equipment to strengthen their agricultural production capacities. For many women who have been forced to leave their villages because of conflicts and insecurity, this support represents much more than material assistance: it constitutes a true symbol of hope and reconstruction.

Thanks to this initiative, women will be able to restart their agricultural activities, produce more food for their families and generate income to meet their basic needs. This action also contributes to strengthening their economic autonomy and their resilience in the face of social, economic and climatic challenges.

Through this project, AWCY-DRC and the Dovetail Impact Foundation reaffirm their commitment to supporting the most vulnerable rural communities and promoting sustainable and inclusive development in South Kivu. A special thought today goes out to all mothers who are suffering, a pain that often remains hidden but deserves to be heard and shared.
In particular, our thoughts go out to those experiencing the tragedy of war.
Those facing illness or loss.
Mothers struggling with illness, mourning the loss of a child, or grieving the deterioration of their parents.
Those bearing the burden of silence.
Tired mothers, overwhelmed by stressful situations, or grieving for distant children or for mistakes of the past.
Those who feel forgotten.
Our thoughts also go out to mothers who, despite difficulties and abandonment, continue to lovingly fulfill their role.
As written in some reflections, a mother's suffering is the suffering of the world, and their strength to resist and hope, even when all seems lost, is a testimony of unconditional love.
A wish of comfort and a virtual hug goes out to all of them.

24/04/2026

If Africa were fully developed, it would reverse migration flows, becoming a tourist and work destination for Europeans and Americans, touching the heart of the debate on global development and structural inequalities.
The African continent is extremely rich in natural resources, possessing 30% of the world's mineral reserves, as well as oil, gas, and rare earths. Despite this enormous potential, several historical and structural factors have prevented uniform development.

Here are some key points based on analyses of the current context:
Colonial and Structural Legacy: Colonialism left behind fragile economies, often based on the extraction of raw materials rather than internal industrial development. The infrastructure built was primarily oriented towards exports to colonizing countries, rather than creating a solid internal network.
Conflict and Political Instability: In many regions, political instability, corruption, and armed conflict paralyze economic growth and deter investment.

Geographic and Climate Challenges: Africa presents significant geographic challenges, such as the scarcity of navigable rivers and the limited sea access of many areas, which make trade difficult. Furthermore, it is the continent most exposed to the effects of climate change, which causes drought, famine, and forced migration.

Migration by Desperation vs. Aspiration: Most African migration occurs within the continent. Those who migrate to Europe often do so for economic reasons (poverty, unemployment) or desperation (war, conflict, persecution), although some are motivated by the search for better education and employment opportunities.

Future Potential: Despite its challenges, Africa is the youngest continent in the world, with a median age of 19. Growing digitalization and trade integration (such as the AfCFTA) offer opportunities for growth, with economic growth forecasts exceeding the global average in some regions.

In short, the desire to migrate is not intrinsic, but often a response to a lack of local opportunities. Inclusive, stable economic development based on the valorization of local resources, including the education of its large young population, is seen as the key to transforming the need to migrate into a choice or tourism.
