Earlier this month, Music Export Ukraine's Head, Alona Dmukhovska, delivered a keynote speech at the Dansk Live Fall Seminar 2026 at Tobakken in Esbjerg.

Under the title “New Rules of Live – A Ukrainian Perspective for Europe,” she explored an important question: what does it take to keep a live music scene alive under extreme pressure, and what can the rest of Europe learn from it? We are truly grateful to our Danish colleagues for their interest, openness to learning from our experience, and enthusiasm for building long-term cooperation.

On top of that, Dansk Live made a generous donation to our organisation, which will help us bring more Ukrainian live music industry professionals and talent to international networking events like this one. So keep an eye out for our upcoming open calls!

For the first time in its history, Reeperbahn Festival named a Guest Country of Honour - Ukraine 🇺🇦

Here’s everything that happened in Hamburg last week: two international awards ( - ANCHOR Award, Disturbed Ground - VIA Award), showcases of , , an open conversation on artists’ new roles in wartime with .koshliak, & , , and a reception to reconnect with friends and partners. Thank you, , and dozens of partners, colleagues and friends, who made this happen 🫶🏻

🇺🇦 Ukraine Closes Reeperbahn Festival 2026 With Two International Awards

For the first time in the festival’s history, Ukraine became the Guest Country of Honour — and for Music Export Ukraine, our goal was clear: not to create an isolated “Ukrainian corner”, but to make Ukraine an organic part of the festival. And it worked out so well 💙💛

🏆 GANNA GRYNIVA won the ANCHOR Award — the festival’s main international talent award. A beautiful milestone after years of building her international career across Europe, Canada and Australia. From ESNS Exchange to Reeperbahn, this is exactly why long-term export work matters. We are proud of the artists' dedication and talent, and that we at MEU had a chance to support part of her journey alongside our colleagues at Initiative Musik / German Music Export and our European partners.

🏆 Ukrainian-German collaboration Disturbed Ground by Kyiv’s K41 club and CTM Festival received the VIA Award for Best Experiment from Verband unabhängiger Musikunternehmer*innen

🎤 Jerry Heil, invited upon MEU’s recommendation, joined the international ANCHOR jury.

🎶 GANNA, Maryna Krut and ⟡ ✧ Кажанна ✧ ⟡ performed across the official festival programme, bringing very different sides of today’s Ukrainian music scene to Hamburg.

💬 Together with Ukrainisches Institut in Deutschland / NUMO mobility program, we brought Alla Koshlyak, Sasha Chemerov and Volodymyr Nedohoda / Victory Beats UA to our “Music Beyond the Stage” discussion — ending with perhaps the most important message of the week: partner with Ukrainians for a better future.

🤝 And our 'Meet Ukrainians' Reception at Alte Liebe, joined by Consul General of Ukraine in Hamburg Vitalii Remelie, brought Ukrainian professionals together with international colleagues, festivals, companies and future partners.

This is what Music Export Ukraine has been building since our first Reeperbahn in 2017: not one-off showcases, but connections that grow into bookings, collaborations, recognition and long-term careers.

Huge thanks to Reeperbahn Festival for all these years of partnership and for making Ukraine its first-ever Guest Country of Honour! See you next year again! 😊

This panel dives into how shifting fan behaviour is reshaping the live ecosystem.

At Reeperbahn Festival 2026, Music Export Ukraine and the Ukrainian Institute - Український інститут invite you to a conversation about people whose professional and personal roles have changed dramatically since russia’s full-scale invasion — and about what happens when culture becomes much more than entertainment.

🎤 Our speakers bring three very different experiences:

Alla Koshliak spent more than 15 years as a cultural journalist before joining the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2023. After working in military communications, she moved into a combat unit and is now Head of an Intelligence Collection and Processing Unit at the Asgard Battalion, 412 Nemesis Brigade.

Sasha Chemerov — musician, producer and frontman of Dymna Sumish and The Gitas — became a co-founder and music producer of Cultural Forces, bringing culture directly to military and civilian communities and helping strengthen Ukraine through music.

Volodymyr Nedohoda, cultural manager and founder of Victory Beats, develops music-therapy programmes for people affected by war trauma, including former prisoners of war and their families.

Moderated by cultural journalist and curator Julia Boxler, the conversation will explore culture as infrastructure: music as therapy, morale, communication, diplomacy and a way to preserve identity.

And we’ll ask what comes next beyond solidarity: what can international festivals, labels, media and cultural organisations actually do? What kinds of partnerships create real impact? And can culture remain neutral when the values that make cultural exchange possible are under attack?

Since 2016, the ANCHOR Award has recognised outstanding emerging artists performing at Reeperbahn Festival and helped bring international attention to new talent.

With years of international releases, touring, collaborations and representing Ukraine on some of Europe’s biggest stages, Jerry Heil brings valuable first-hand experience of what it takes to build a career beyond national borders. We’re proud to see her sharing this expertise and having a voice in the development of a new generation of European artists.
