🐾 Kindness towards animals starts from childhood.

OIPA Bulgaria joined the educational event “Chudo and Ved – Little Stories for Big Hearts”, bringing children and families closer to the values of empathy, responsible care and animal protection.

Through stories, creative activities, games and the chance to meet Chudo and Ved children discovered what it means to rescue, care for and respect animals.

The event also supported a concrete cause: funds raised during the charity market will help finance the sterilisation of stray cats. 💚

Because building a more compassionate world begins with the youngest generations.

🐾 Stray and shelter animals need stronger protection!

OIPA ETS is supporting the dissemination of European Citizens’ Initiative ECI(2026)000003, calling for stronger safeguards for stray dogs, stray cats and animals living in shelters through the areas where the European Union has the power to act.

The initiative promotes humane and sustainable solutions based on prevention, veterinary care, responsible shelter management and long-term protection, while also calling for stronger animal-welfare standards in EU funding and cooperation with third countries.

To move forward, the initiative needs the support of European citizens.

🇪🇬 A new voice for animal protection in Egypt.

We are pleased to welcome Ali Maklad as OIPA’s new Representative in Egypt.

Journalist, founder of 4Rogol (Four Legs) and animal welfare advocate, Ali works to promote responsible pet ownership, adoption, CNVR, One Health and humane coexistence with free-roaming animals.

His appointment strengthens OIPA’s presence in Egypt and our commitment to advancing animal protection through awareness, cooperation and concrete action.

🚨 JORDAN | OIPA INSTITUTIONAL ACTION

OIPA International has formally addressed the competent Jordanian authorities regarding the situation of free-roaming dogs currently present in remote desert areas around Safawi, Mafraq Governorate.

Reports and audiovisual material received by OIPA indicate that a substantial number of dogs are living in extremely harsh conditions, with very limited access to water, food and veterinary care. OIPA has also received reports suggesting that some dogs may have been relocated from urban and residential areas to remote desert locations.

We are calling for clarification on the circumstances surrounding these reported relocations and for the adoption of humane, sustainable and evidence-based solutions based on a One Health approach.

Vaccination, sterilisation, veterinary care, prevention of abandonment and responsible population management must be at the centre of any long-term strategy.

For more than 20 years, Tatiana has dedicated her life to rescuing abandoned, injured and vulnerable animals. From helping dogs and cats in need to protecting wildlife, educating communities and advocating for stronger animal protection laws, her commitment has always gone beyond individual rescues—towards creating lasting change.

With Tatiana by our side, OIPA will strengthen its presence in Bulgaria and work to prevent abandonment, promote spaying, neutering and animal identification, improve cooperation among local actors and give a stronger voice to every animal. 🐾

🐾 International Dog Day 2026: different countries, different lives ! but every dog deserves protection.

For millions of people, dogs are family. Yet around the world, many still face abandonment, violent stray-dog management, euthanasia, war, lack of veterinary care and even the dog meat trade.

Today, we also want to celebrate the OIPA heroes working every day on the ground: our International Representatives, Member Leagues, volunteers and partners who rescue animals, provide veterinary care, educate communities and raise their voices when animals are victims of cruelty.

From Africa to Europe, Asia and the Middle East, their daily work reminds us that change often starts locally with people who choose not to look away.

On this International Dog Day, we celebrate every dog, but also every person within the OIPA network who continues to fight for a world where dogs are protected, respected and treated with dignity.

A dog’s right to protection should not depend on where in the world that dog is born 🌍🐶
