Price is Rice è un’associazione non profit creata con l’intento di riconoscere il valore estetico dell’artigianato Bangladeshi tutelando le sue tradizioni. L’associazione è stata costituita nel 2013 da un gruppo di designer tessili e lavora tra l’Italia e il Bangladesh per garantire che il design di qualità incontri il commercio equo. Il riso è usato come metafora in quanto ogni prezzo è calcolato
secondo la valuta universale del riso. Questo per assicurarsi che tutti i produttori che collaborano con l’associazione lavorino nelle giuste condizioni e percepiscano un salario equo. Price is Rice promuove anche lo scambio culturale per favorire la condivisione di idee tra Occidente ed Oriente e lavora in particolare per supportare le donne produttrici.

Price is Rice is a non profit organisation that sets out to recognise the aesthetic values of handicraft in Bangladesh and preserve its traditions. The organisation was set up in 2013 by a group of textile designers and works between Italy and Bangladesh to ensure that beautiful design meets fair trade. This is to make sure that all the makers in our organisation work in acceptable conditions and receive a fair living wage. Price is Rice also works as a cultural exchange for sharing ideas among designers from East and West and works in particular to support women makers.
