🇮🇹 La Rotta dei Fenici - Itinerario Culturale del Consiglio d'Europa è molto lieta di patrocinare l'ottava edizione del Sea Essence International Festival (SEIF), in programma da domani sull'Isola d'Elba: il primo Festival Internazionale interamente dedicato alla salvaguardia e valorizzazione del , inteso non solo come ecosistema, ma anche come patrimonio culturale e sociale.

Fin dal suo esordio, SEIF si è posto l'obiettivo di sensibilizzare le comunità locali e globali sull'importanza della protezione del mare, promuovendo azioni concrete e stimolando un dialogo costruttivo tra istituzioni, esperti e cittadini.

🔵 SEIF si inserisce nel quadro delle attività promosse dalla Fondazione Acqua dell'Elba, socio del nostro Itinerario, e da Acqua dell'Elba a favore della , del e dell' e della tutela e valorizzazione della sua bellezza.

🇬🇧 The Phoenicians’ Route – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe – is delighted to once again be sponsoring the eighth edition of the Sea Essence International Festival (SEIF) - Elba Island (Tuscany, Italy): the first international festival entirely dedicated to the protection and promotion of the , understood not only as an ecosystem but also as a cultural and social heritage.

Since its inception, SEIF has set itself the aim of raising awareness amongst local and global communities about the importance of protecting the sea, promoting concrete actions and fostering constructive dialogue between institutions, experts and citizens.

SEIF forms part of the activities promoted by the Fondazione Acqua dell’Elba, official member of our Route, and by Acqua dell’Elba Society in support of , the and the , as well as the protection and promotion of its beauty.

The 2026 edition is dedicated to the theme “MEDITERRANEAN ITINERARIES”.

🇮🇹 Gibellina – Capitale dell’Arte Contemporanea 2026 – e Selinunte, ospitano il secondo incontro dei Creative Europe Desk del Mediterraneo, dal 22 al 24 giugno 2026, con delegati provenienti dai Ministeri della Cultura di oltre 10 Paesi e dall’Unione Europea.

L’evento è organizzato dal Desk Italia Europa Creativa e dal Desk di Cipro, in occasione del semestre di Presidenza della Unione Europea.

Collabora all’iniziativa La Rotta dei Fenici – Itinerario Culturale del Consiglio d’Europa- i cui uffici di direzione si trovano a Selinunte.

La giornata del 22 giugno, a , sarà dedicata alle policy europee e nazionali per il e allo showcase dei progetti cofinanziati dal sottoprogramma Cultura di Europa Creativa. Quella del 23 giugno, che si terrà presso l’Hotel Admeto di Selinunte, alla sezione Cross e Media di Creative Europe. Nel pomeriggio i partecipanti saranno ospiti del Parco Archeologico di Selinunte, Cave di Cusa e Pantelleria dove incontreranno il Direttore Dr. Felice Crescente.

Nella giornata finale del 24 giugno, sempre presso l’Hotel Admeto di Selinunte, dalle 9 alle 13, si terrà un incontro di alcuni Manager rappresentanti di 10 Itinerari Culturali del Consiglio d’Europa, per offrire l’opportunità ai delegati dei Ministeri della Cultura del Mediterraneo di approfondire la conoscenza di una rete che, a partire dal patrimonio culturale e dal turismo, promuove i principi e i valori fondanti del Consiglio d’Europa: diritti umani, democrazia culturale, diversità culturale, comprensione reciproca e scambi transfrontalieri.

Gli Itinerari Culturali sono, infatti, strumenti di dialogo interculturale e contribuiscono a una migliore conoscenza e comprensione della storia europea.

Interverranno anche i rappresentanti di Larnaca (Cipro) Capitale Europea della Cultura 2030 e Victoria (Malta) Capitale Europea della Cultura 2031, quali progetti di cooperazione mediterranea e, in particolare, con la Rotta dei Fenici. Tutti i panel saranno in inglese.

🇬🇧 Gibellina – Capital of Contemporary Art 2026 – and Selinunte are hosting the II Meeting of the Creative Europe Desks of the Mediterranean, from 22 to 24 June 2026, with delegates from the Ministries of Culture of over 10 countries and from the European Union.

The event is organised by the Creative Europe Desk Italy and the Cyprus Desk, to mark Cyprus’s six-month Presidency of the European Union.

The initiative is supported by the Phoenicians' Route - Cultural Route of the Council of Europe – whose headquarters are located in Selinunte.

The day on 22 June, in , will be dedicated to European and National policies for the and to a showcase of projects co-funded by the Culture sub-programme of Creative Europe. The day on 23 June, to be held at the Hotel Admeto in Selinunte, will focus on the Cross and Media section of Creative Europe. In the afternoon, participants will be guests at the Selinunte Archaeological Park, where they will meet the Director, Dr Felice Crescente.

On the final day, 24 June, again at the Hotel Admeto in Selinunte, from 9 am to 1 pm, a meeting will be held between Managers representing 10 Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, to offer delegates from the Mediterranean Ministries of Culture the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of a network which, through cultural heritage and tourism, promotes the founding principles and values of the Council of Europe: human rights, democracy, cultural diversity, mutual understanding and cross-border exchanges.


The Cultural Routes are, in fact, tools for intercultural dialogue and contribute to a better knowledge and understanding of European history.

Representatives from Larnaca (Cyprus), European Capital of Culture 2030, and Victoria (Malta), European Capital of Culture 2031, will also intervene, as part of Mediterranean cooperation projects and, in particular, in connection with the Phoenicians' Route. All panel discussions will be held in English.

🇬🇧 In recent days, the Director, Antonio Barone, and the Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the Phoenicians’ Route, Karsten Xuereb, held two important meetings with the Maltese national authorities responsible for and .

With regard to Culture, they met Dr Sharon Sultana, Senior Manager of Archaeology and Natural History at Heritage Malta and Malta’s representative in the EPA – the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe – with whom they discussed programmes and initiatives currently being launched in preparation for the 2026–2031 period, outlining proposals for official collaboration with Heritage Malta, involving other museums that belong to the Mediterranean Museum Network (MuMuNET) of the Phoenicians' Route.

As regards Tourism, a training session was held at the Malta Tourism Authority’s Smart City headquarters on the Phoenicians' Route and the role of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in facilitating the tourism strategies of member countries; the session was aimed at 40 MTA officials and managers.

The meeting proved very fruitful in terms of interaction between the two representatives of the Phoenicians’ Route and the participants, who also put forward a number of operational proposals and agreed to collaborate on identifying elements of Maltese identity that could serve as reference points for the creation of regenerative tourism strategies in Malta.

Discussions also covered marketing and the creation of new products to support the RdF’s new Maltese ‘Smart Way’ initiative.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to organise further training initiatives at the MTA’s regional offices worldwide and to collaborate on both current and future European projects.

🇮🇹 Nei giorni scorsi il Direttore, Antonio Barone e il Coordinatore del Comitato Scientifico della Rotta dei Fenici, Karsten Xuereb, hanno tenuto due importanti incontri con le autorità nazionali maltesi dei settori Cultura e Turismo.

Per quanto riguarda la Cultura, hanno incontrato la Dott.ssa Sharon Sultana, Senior Manager Settore Archeologia presso Heritage Malta e Rappresentante di nell'EPA - Accordo Parziale Allargato sugli Itinerari Culturali del Consiglio d'Europa, con la quale hanno condiviso programmi e iniziative che si stanno avviando in preparazione del periodo 2026-2031, condividendo ipotesi di collaborazione ufficiali con Heritage Malta, con il coinvolgimento di altri musei che fanno parte della Rete di Musei del Mediterraneo (MuMuNET) della RdF.

Per quanto riguarda il Turismo, nella sede di Malta Tourism Authority - Smart City - hanno tenuto un incontro di formazione sulla Rotta dei Fenici e sul ruolo degli Itinerari del Consiglio d'Europa come facilitatori di strategie turistiche dei paesi aderenti, rivolto a 40 funzionari e dirigenti di MTA.

La riunione è stata molto proficua per l'interazione tra i due rappresentanti della RdF e i partecipanti, i quali hanno formulato anche alcune ipotesi operative e condiviso il proposito di collaborare alla individuazione degli elementi identitari maltesi che possono fungere da riferimenti per la creazione di strategie di turismo rigenerativo a .

Si è parlato anche di marketing e di creazione di nuovi prodotti a supporto della nuova Smart Way maltese della RdF.

Al termine è stato concordato di organizzare altre iniziative di formazione presso le sedi periferiche di MTA in tutto il mondo e di collaborare anche su progetti europei in corso e futuri.

🇮🇹 Dal 2016 La Rotta dei Fenici - Itinerario Culturale del Consiglio d'Europa sta sviluppando una metodologia basata sullo sviluppo delle "Smart Ways", percorsi di eccellenza che fungono da collettori di patrimoni, comunità e singoli servizi.

Il Percorso-Way viene chiamato "Smart" perché vengono utilizzate e applicate le metodologie più innovative basate sul turismo rigenerativo e di comunità. Il concept non si basa sulla lunghezza ma sulla qualità dell'offerta e delle relazioni tra i vari operatori coinvolti.

La RdF ha sviluppato questo concetto in vari progetti europei: Trames, Smarties for SMEs, e il recente ECOSEAROUTES.

Ieri, a Malta 🇲🇹, è stata presentata la Smart Way dell'arcipelago con circa 20 Comuni coinvolti. Che sia un modello vincente lo dimostrano i flussi turistici di qualità già generati e le ricadute economiche positive sui territori interessati.

🇬🇧 Since 2016, the Phoenicians’ Route – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe – has been developing a methodology based on the creation of ‘Smart Ways’, paths of excellence that serve as hubs for heritage, communities and individual services.

The Way is called ‘Smart’ because it applies the most innovative methodologies based on regenerative and community-based tourism. The concept is not based on length but on the quality of the offering and the relationships between the various operators involved.

RdF has developed this concept through various European projects: Trames, Smarties for SMEs, and the recent ECO-SEAROUTES.

Yesterday, in Malta 🇲🇹, the archipelago’s ‘Smart Way’ initiative was unveiled, involving around 20 local authorities. The fact that it is a successful model is demonstrated by the high-quality tourist flows it has already generated and the positive economic impact on the areas concerned.
