The Melody team gathered for the last time within this Erasmus+ project at the International Youth Work Conference - The Impact of Youth Work, which took place this week in Prahova, Romania, hosted by one of the partner organizations of the project, Curba de Cultură.

At the event dedicated to students, educators, youth workers, and other active members of civil society, the Melody team presented the project’s methodology and results. In addition to the panel presentation, which introduced the project to more than 100 participants, the Melody team also organized two practical workshops based on our Music for Citizenship Education Toolkit.

The morning workshop, led by Curba de Cultură, was dedicated to students and focused on campaigning for the rights that young people consider important. The afternoon workshop, delivered by Roter Baum Berlin engaged adults working in the youth field; COURAGE was the theme of this creative session, during which participants reflected on song lyrics and their personal motivations.

This event marks the end of our international collaboration within the Melody project, and we are grateful to all three partners for this wonderful journey together!

But Melody’s story is just beginning, and we are excited to continue sharing the impact our work will have on the children and young people who will engage with the project in the future.

These days, our project is getting ready to present the work of the past two years at the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤, taking place in Romania in less than a week!

In Melody team, we are proud of our partnership, shared experiences, and—above all—the results of this collaboration: the developed Melody Methodology, a Handbook of Best Practices, Pilot Actions, Training for Educators, and our final Toolkit Music on Citizenship Education.

Melody is spreading: its results are reaching teachers, educators, and youth workers who are eager to use music as a tool to practice citizenship in its best form.

A series of local dissemination events is taking place in three partner countries — Italy, Germany, and Romania.

The Melody toolkit — available online in four different languages — as well as the project’s methodology will also be presented at the annual International Conference on Youth Work, taking place on December 9th, 2025, in Romania.

After implementing our activities with the first groups of children and youngsters in all three partner countries, the project team gathered this weekend to revise and improve the Toolkit content.

In this phase our main findings about the potential of Melody activities are simple, yet very constructive:
* Music is a universal language and musical activities foster inclusion. Music allows children and youngsters to get engaged even in groups where they would otherwise be excluded from.

* Active citizenship can only be practiced through active, participatory activities. Even in the context of formal education it is important to introduce engaging exercises that allow a learning experience, but also failures and - most importantly - reflection.

After sharing and evaluating, we are including smaller methodological changes that will make the Toolkit even more accessible for educators with various backgrounds.

It was a great working weekend in Berlin, thanks to our partners from Roter Baum and their local collaborators!

“Democracy is not an abstract concept, it can be experienced through harmony and connection between people.”
These are the first impressions of teachers and educators who participated in the last meeting of the Melody - Music Education for Learning and Development of Youngsters project, co-funded by the European Union within the Erasmus+ program, together with partners Roter Baum Berlin Curba de Cultură at the mozzi Borgetti library of Comune di Macerata.

After almost a year since the start of the project, which aims to develop an innovative teaching methodology that uses music as a tool for civic education, here are the first experiments of the Toolkit created, a manual aimed at educators and teachers of primary and secondary schools, which includes 16 teaching activities to be implemented in the classroom.

This weekend we are trying out our activities compiled in the Toolkit Music for Citizenship Education in a special training for educators in Macerata, Italy!
After this, our strategic partnership project is reaching a new stage - playing Melody - or applying Melody methodology with kids and youngsters in partner countries!

First copies of our Toolkit for teachers and educators MUSIC FOR CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION got to our office! 🤩

With this occasion we offer you a glimpse of its structure. The activities, appropriate for students from 6-14 years old are divided in 5 chapters:

The activities include all the needed information + tips and tricks for educators to make memorable and fun contexts for learning about citizenship.
