🇬🇧When I first arrived at the camp, I was filled with nervousness. It was the first time in 20 years that I was away from my family and friends, stepping into a completely unknown world. I was scared, homesick even before leaving home but at the same time, there was a quiet excitement inside me, a hope of meeting people from different parts of the world and creating something beautiful together.

I come from the Indian subcontinent, where our food and way of life are deeply connected to our religion. The care and respect you showed by making vegetarian arrangements for us everywhere we went touched my heart more than words can express.

Andrea, Roberto, Nuncia, Sara, Claudia, Matteo you are not just amazing people, you are beautiful souls. From the very beginning, you made me feel like I belonged, like I wasn’t a guest but a part of your family.

To all the friends I met here, thank you for the laughter, the conversations, the moments that felt like home even when I was far away from it. Some people will stay with me forever especially Saku Sakaki and Oven. You have left an imprint on my heart that distance can never erase.

Tomorrow I leave for Mumbai, but I know for sure that I am not leaving everything behind. A part of my heart will always remain here, with all of you.

🇮🇹 Quando sono arrivato al campo, ero molto
nervoso. Era la prima volta in vent'anni che mi
allontanavo dalla mia famiglia e dai miei amici
per entrare in un mondo completamente
sconosciuto. Avevo paura, sentivo già la
nostalgia di casa prima ancora di partire, ma
allo stesso tempo provavo una silenziosa
eccitazione, la speranza di incontrare persone
provenienti da diverse parti del mondo e di
creare insieme qualcosa di bello.
Vengo dal subcontinente indiano, dove il cibo e
lo stile di vita sono profondamente legati alla
nostra religione. La cura e il rispetto che ci
avete dimostrato preparandoci pasti vegetariani
ovunque andassimo mi hanno toccato il cuore
più di quanto le parole possano esprimere.
Andrea, Roberto, Nunzia, Sara, Claudia,
Matteo, non siete solo persone straordinarie,
siete anime meravigliose. Fin dall'inizio mi
avete fatto sentire a casa, come se non fossi un
ospite ma parte della vostra famiglia.
A tutti gli amici che ho incontrato qui, grazie
per le risate, le conversazioni, i momenti in cui
mi sono sentito a casa anche quando ero
lontano da essa. Alcune persone rimarranno con
me per sempre, in particolare Saku, Sakaki e
Oven. Avete lasciato un'impronta nel mio cuore
che la distanza non potrà mai cancellare.
Domani parto per Mumbai, ma so per certo che
non mi lascerò tutto alle spalle. Una parte del

🇬🇧This camp has been one of the best experiences of my life. I made so many amazing friends who will always carry a little piece of my heart. Every person here has taught me so much, personally and culturally.
From the jokes and greetings with Emiliano, to the dances and Spanish lessons with Griffin, the antics of Cris, the chats with Arantxa, the Lui’s jokes, the late-night talks with my roommates, and the laughs and gossip with Kauã, etc. these memories will stay with me forever! Thank you for making this camp such a unique experience.
I hope to see you all again, and that we can visit more churches together. You will always be welcome in Mexico and in my home.

I want to thank you for the incredible experience of the Camp. The hikes on the trails in the cities or places we visited, and the relaxed camaraderie we had, were simply fantastic. I loved seeing the cathedrals, trying the local food, and experiencing the cultures of each place we visited.

The energy and friendship of the group made everything even more special, each person representing their country and sharing their culture. I can’t wait for our next adventure together!

Spending two weeks with people from many different countries was very fun and meaningful for me. Through daily communication, I could share cultures and values from each country, and it left a strong impression on me.

Also, through this camp, I was able to learn more about Italian culture and history. By seeing the city and historical places with my own eyes, I could feel Italy’s long history more closely.

I am truly grateful for this valuable experience and for everyone who supported me. In this way, this camp experience has become an unforgettable and precious memory for me.

“The Lions organization has always been filled with such wonderful experiences for me, and I’m very happy and proud to say that this winter camp was an addition to the great memories i’ve had with Lions. I was invited to the winter camp by my friend, Luca, who I met in Camp Toscana a few years prior. I started my experience with his family, being hosted near Milano, and getting to see such beautiful architectures and cities. We then transferred to Bari, where we spent majority of our stay, traveling in between to several different cities, sights and monuments. This was my third time in Italy, and yet, I have still learned so much and met so many amazing people. I experienced how my host family celebrates holidays such at Christmas and New Years in Italy, as well as learned about others in the camp, and their cultures. I want to give a special thank you to the camp leaders, Matteo, Sara, Claudia and Andrea who made sure we were safe, punctual and having fun throughout our time in this camp. I also want to give a big thank you to Roberto and Nunzia for directing this camp and supporting us throughout our time here. And of course, I want to thank Luca and his family for inviting me on this journey! I have had so much fun rekindling our friendship, as well as our camp experience. This experience was so beautiful and I hope I can continue to spend my time with Lions in the future!”

🇮🇹 L’organizzazione Lions è sempre stata per me fonte di esperienze meravigliose e sono molto felice e orgogliosa di poter dire che questo campo invernale si è aggiunto ai grandi ricordi che ho vissuto con i Lions. Sono stata invitata al campo invernale dal mio amico Luca, che avevo conosciuto alcuni anni prima al Camp Toscana. Ho iniziato questa esperienza con la sua famiglia, ospitata vicino a Milano, dove ho potuto ammirare architetture e città davvero bellissime.

Successivamente ci siamo trasferiti a Bari, dove abbiamo trascorso la maggior parte del soggiorno, viaggiando anche verso diverse altre città, luoghi e monumenti. Questa era la mia terza volta in Italia e, nonostante ciò, ho imparato ancora tantissimo e ho conosciuto moltissime persone straordinarie. Ho vissuto in prima persona il modo in cui la mia famiglia ospitante celebra festività come il Natale e il Capodanno in Italia, e allo stesso tempo ho imparato molto anche sugli altri partecipanti al campo e sulle loro culture.

Desidero ringraziare in modo speciale i camp leader Matteo, Sara, Claudia e Andrea, che si sono assicurati che fossimo sempre al sicuro, puntuali e che ci divertissimo durante tutta la durata del campo. Voglio inoltre ringraziare di cuore Roberto e Nunzia per aver diretto questo campo e per averci supportato costantemente. E naturalmente voglio ringraziare Luca e la sua famiglia per avermi invitata in questo viaggio! Mi sono divertita tantissimo nel rafforzare la nostra amicizia e nel rivivere insieme l’esperienza del campo.

Questa esperienza è stata davvero bellissima e spero di poter continuare a vivere molte altre esperienze con i Lions anche in futuro!

🇬🇧 Final Ceremony | January 8, 2026
The Final Ceremony marked one of the most intense and meaningful moments of the entire Camp. In the presence of Lions and Leo authorities, the young participants took the stage one by one to share their stories, emotions and the experiences that made this journey unforgettable. Words filled with gratitude, friendships beyond borders and memories that will last a lifetime echoed through the room, creating an atmosphere of deep connection and emotion.

At the end of each speech, Camp Director Roberto Mastromattei presented the participants with the Camp pennant and a symbolic gift, sealing the bond created during these days and celebrating the growth, openness and spirit of international friendship that defined the Camp.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Rossella Vitali, President of the Council of Governors of MD Lions 108 Italy; Girolamo Tortorelli, Governor of Lions District 108 AB Puglia; Andrea Ricupero, Vice President of Leo District 108 AB Puglia; Margherita Muzzi, MD Lions 108 Italy Youth Camps and Exchanges Coordinator; Loriana Fiordi, Director of the Italian Summer Camp; along with numerous other national and District AB Officers and leaders, whose participation highlighted the importance and value of this experience.

Following the ceremony, the evening continued with a convivial dinner and a festive celebration. Amid laughter, music and heartfelt embraces, the participants exchanged their final goodbyes—aware that although the Camp had come to an end, the friendships formed and the memories shared would remain

🇮🇹 Cerimonia Finale | 8 gennaio 2026
La Cerimonia Finale ha rappresentato uno dei momenti più intensi ed emozionanti dell’intero Campo. Alla presenza delle autorità Lions e Leo, i ragazzi hanno preso la parola uno dopo l’altro, raccontando le proprie esperienze, le emozioni vissute e il significato profondo di questo percorso condiviso. Racconti colmi di gratitudine, amicizie nate oltre ogni confine e ricordi destinati a durare nel tempo hanno riempito la sala, creando un’atmosfera di forte partecipazione e commozione.

Al termine di ogni intervento, il Direttore del Campo Roberto Mastromattei ha donato ai partecipanti il guidoncino del Campo e un regalo simbolico, a suggello del legame creatosi in questi giorni e dello spirito di crescita, apertura e amicizia internazionale che ha caratterizzato l’intera esperienza.

La cerimonia si è svolta alla presenza della Presidente del Consiglio dei Governatori del MD Lions 108 Italy Rossella Vitali, del Governatore del Distretto Lions 108 AB Puglia Girolamo Tortorelli, del Vice Presidente del Distretto Leo 108 AB Puglia Andrea Ricupero, del Coordinatore Campi e Scambi Giovanili del MD Lions 108 Italy Margherita Muzzi, del Direttore del Campo Italia Estivo Loriana Fiordi, e di numerose altre Cariche e Officer nazionali e del Distretto AB, a testimonianza del valore e dell’importanza di questo progetto.

Al termine della cerimonia, la serata è proseguita con un convivio e una festa conclusiva. Tra sorrisi, musica, abbracci e promesse di rivedersi, i ragazzi si sono scambiati gli ultimi saluti, consapevoli che il Campo si concludeva, ma che ciò che avevano costruito insieme avrebbe continuato a vivere nel tempo.

🇬🇧 Day 11 | January 8, 2026
After a full day of travel returning from Umbria to Apulia, with a stop in Narni, Day 11 brought the Camp to Gioia del Colle. The morning began with an interesting visit to the “La Golosa di Puglia” dairy, where participants discovered the ancient art of mozzarella and burrata production. The group was able to observe every stage of the process—from fresh curd to the finished product—and enjoy a tasting of these outstanding local specialties.

The group then visited the 36th Wing Air Base of the Italian Air Force in Gioia del Colle, where they attended an engaging presentation and later shared lunch with the military personnel. This provided a meaningful opportunity for exchange and allowed participants to experience firsthand the dedication, teamwork and values that characterize life in service.

In the afternoon, the participants visited the Castle of Gioia del Colle, where they were welcomed by Deputy Mayor Giuseppe Gallo, First Vice District Governor D’Aprile, Zone President Luigi Dionisio, along with several Lions members and representatives of the local administration. The guided tour offered insight into the history and architectural beauty of the castle, inspiring great interest and admiration for the city’s cultural heritage.

The day was made possible thanks to the warm hospitality of the Lions Club Gioia del Colle Host Terra dei Peucezi, led by President Chiara Curione, and the Lions Club Gioia del Colle – Putignano Monte Johe, led by President Emanuele Ventura. Special thanks to Zone President Angelo Antresini for the organization.

Accompanying the group throughout the day were Margherita Muzzi, National Coordinator of Youth Camps and Exchanges, and Loriana Fiordi, Director of the Italian Summer Camp, whose presence and kindness helped make the experience even more special, together with a large group of members of the Lions Club Bari San Nicola, accompanied by their President Carlo Adamo.

🇮🇹 Giorno 11 | 8 gennaio 2026
Dopo un’intera giornata di viaggio per il rientro dall’Umbria alla Puglia, con una tappa a Narni, l’undicesimo giorno ha condotto il Campo a Gioia del Colle. La mattinata è iniziata con un’interessante visita al caseificio “La Golosa di Puglia”, dove i partecipanti hanno scoperto l’antica arte della produzione di mozzarelle e burrate. Il gruppo ha potuto assistere a tutte le fasi della lavorazione — dalla cagliata fresca al prodotto finito — e degustare queste eccellenze del territorio.

Successivamente, i ragazzi si sono recati presso la Base dell’Aeronautica Militare del 36° Stormo di Gioia del Colle, dove hanno assistito a una coinvolgente presentazione e hanno poi pranzato insieme ai militari, vivendo un significativo momento di condivisione e conoscendo da vicino la dedizione, il senso di squadra e i valori che caratterizzano la vita in servizio.

Nel pomeriggio, il gruppo ha visitato il Castello di Gioia del Colle, accolto dal Vicesindaco Giuseppe Gallo, dal I Vice Governatore D’Aprile, dai Presidenti di Zona Angelo Antresini e Luigi Dionisio e da numerosi amici Lions e rappresentanti dell’Amministrazione comunale. La visita guidata ha permesso di apprezzare la storia e la bellezza architettonica del castello, suscitando grande interesse e ammirazione per il patrimonio culturale della città.

La giornata è stata resa possibile grazie alla calorosa ospitalità del Lions Club Gioia del Colle Host Terra dei Peucezi, con la Presidente Chiara Curione, e del Lions Club Gioia del Colle – Putignano Monte Johe, con il Presidente Emanuele Ventura. Un sentito ringraziamento al Presidente di Zona Angelo Antresini per l’organizzazione miticolosa e per aver accompagnato il gruppo in tutta la giornata.

Ad accompagnare il gruppo per l’intera giornata sono stati la Coordinatrice Nazionale Campi e Scambi Giovanili Margherita Muzzi e la Direttrice del Campo Italia Estivo Loriana Fiordi, la cui presenza e cordialità hanno contribuito a rendere l’esperienza ancora più speciale, insieme a un numeroso gruppo di soci del Lions Club Bari San Nicola, accompagnati dal loro Presidente Carlo Adamo.

🇬🇧Day 9 | January 6, 2026
Day 9 took the Camp to the enchanting town of Assisi, where the group received a warm welcome from Luigi Rossetti, President of the Lions Club Assisi. The participants wandered through the historic streets, soaking in the charm of this hilltop town, and visited the Basilica of San Francesco, pausing at the saint’s tomb in a moment of reflection. They also explored the ancient Temple of Minerva, marveling at its classical beauty and rich history.

In the evening, back at the monastery, Camp Director Roberto and Nunzia added a delightful surprise to the day: Befana stockings for everyone in celebration of Epiphany, filling the atmosphere with laughter, joy, and holiday cheer.

Il nono giorno ha portato il Campo nella suggestiva città di Assisi, dove il gruppo è stato calorosamente accolto da Luigi Rossetti, Presidente del Lions Club Assisi. I partecipanti hanno passeggiato per le strade storiche, assaporando il fascino unico di questa città collinare, e hanno visitato la Basilica di San Francesco, sostando in un momento di riflessione presso la tomba del santo. Hanno inoltre esplorato l’antico Tempio di Minerva, ammirandone la bellezza classica e l’importanza storica.

In serata, al rientro in monastero, il Direttore del Campo Roberto e Nunzia hanno regalato a tutti una piacevole sorpresa: le calze della Befana per l’Epifania, creando un’atmosfera di gioia, divertimento e festa.

🇬🇧Day 8 | January 5, 2026
Day 8 took the Camp to Perugia and Todi, two Umbrian cities rich in history, art and tradition.
In Perugia, the group explored the historic city center, visiting the Maestà delle Volte, an evocative medieval underground area, and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo overlooking Piazza IV Novembre.
The participants were warmly welcomed by Lion Sergio Tasso, the Region Chairperson member of Lions Club Perugia Marstà delle Volte. A special thank you also goes to Lion member Marta Bocci of the Lions Club Perugia Centenario for her kind hospitality and support.

In the afternoon, the Camp moved on to Todi, an elegant hilltop town overlooking the Tiber Valley, known for its harmonious medieval layout and timeless atmosphere. The group visited the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, dominating the main square and symbol of the city’s spiritual and civic life.
The visit was made even more meaningful thanks to the warm welcome of Giulio Bico, Leo District President 108L, Nicola Giordano, 8A Zone Chairperson; Nicola Bico, President of the Lions Club Todi; Lion Federica Biscaroni, District and Multiple District Officer; Elena Bico President of Leo Club Todi ad the President of the Todi City Council Giorgio Tenneroni.

In the evening, upon returning to the monastery, the group enjoyed a special murder mystery dinner, animated by professional actors, turning the night into a moment of fun, teamwork and unforgettable memories.

🇮🇹Giorno 8 | 5 gennaio 2026
L'ottavo giorno ha condotto il Campo alla scoperta di Perugia e Todi, due città umbre ricche di storia, arte e tradizione.
A Perugia, il gruppo ha visitato il centro storico, scoprendo la suggestiva Maesta delle
Volte, aftascinante area medievale sotterranea, e il Duomo di San Lorenzo, affacciato su Piazza IV Novembre.
I partecipanti sono stati accolti dal Presidente di Circoscrizione Sergio Tasso, Socio del Lions Club Perugia Maestà delle Volte. Un sentito ringraziamento anche alla socia Marta
Bocci del Lions Club Perugia Centenario per la disponibilita e l'ospitalita riservata al gruppo.
Nel pomeriggio il Campo si è spostato a Todi, elegante città collinare affacciata sulla valle del Tevere, famosa per l'armonia del suo impianto medievale e per l'atmosfera senza tempo. Qui i ragazzi hanno visitato il Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta, che domina la piazza principale ed è simbolo della vita religiosa e civile della città.

🇬🇧Day 7 | January 4, 2026
Day 7 was dedicated to the discovery of Spoleto, a city rich in history, art and breathtaking views. The group visited the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, overlooking the main square, admired the impressive Ponte delle Torri, symbol of the city, and explored the Rocca Albornoziana, which dominates Spoleto and the surrounding valley.
A heartfelt thank you to Anna Picchi, President of the Lions Club Spoleto, together with many Lions and Leo members, for their warm welcome and hospitality.
In the evening, upon returning to the monastery, the group took part in a cooking class, learning how to make fresh handmade pasta and sharing a joyful moment of creativity and tradition.

Il settimo giorno è stato dedicato alla scoperta di Spoleto, città ricca di storia, arte e scorci suggestivi. I ragazzi hanno visitato il Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta, affacciato sulla piazza principale, ammirato il maestoso Ponte delle Torri, simbolo della città, e raggiunto la Rocca Albornoziana, che domina Spoleto e la valle sottostante.
Un sentito ringraziamento ad Anna Picchi, Presidente del Lions Club Spoleto, unitamente a numerosi soci Lions e Leo, per la calorosa accoglienza e l’ospitalità riservata al gruppo.
In serata, al rientro in monastero, i partecipanti hanno preso parte a una cooking class, durante la quale hanno imparato a preparare la pasta fresca fatta a mano, condividendo un momento di convivialità, tradizione e divertimento.

🇬🇧Day 6 | January 3, 2026
In the morning, the Camp visited Civita di Bagnoregio, the famous “dying city”, perched on a tuff hill and connected to the outside world by a single pedestrian bridge. Known for its fragile beauty and slow erosion over time, Civita offered participants a unique journey through history, nature and timeless landscapes.
The group was warmly welcomed by PCC Naldo Anselmi and by Paolo Cannone, President of Zone 4B of Lions District 108L, representing the Lions Club Viterbo.
In the afternoon, the Camp moved on to Orvieto, where participants visited the magnificent Cathedral, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture, and explored the underground caves that reveal the city’s ancient Etruscan origins.
The visit was made even more special thanks to the hospitality and guidance of Luigi Fulchi, President of the Lions Club Orvieto.

🇬🇧Giorno 6 | 3 gennaio 2026
In mattinata il Campo ha visitato Civita di Bagnoregio, la celebre “città che muore”, arroccata su uno sperone di tufo e collegata al mondo esterno da un’unica passerella pedonale. Famosa per la sua fragile bellezza e per l’inesorabile erosione che ne minaccia l’esistenza, Civita ha regalato ai partecipanti un viaggio sospeso tra storia, natura e paesaggi senza tempo.
Il gruppo è stato accolto dal PCC Naldo Anselmi e da Paolo Cannone, Presidente della Zona 4B del Distretto Lions 108L, in rappresentanza del Lions Club Viterbo.
Nel pomeriggio il Campo si è spostato a Orvieto, dove i ragazzi hanno visitato la splendida Cattedrale, capolavoro dell’architettura gotica italiana, e le suggestive grotte sotterranee, testimonianza delle antiche origini etrusche della città.
La visita è stata arricchita dall’accoglienza e dalla guida di Luigi Fulchi, Presidente del Lions Club Orvieto.

🇬🇧 Day 5 | January 2, 2026
Day 5 began with a visit to Castel del Monte, the iconic octagonal building commissioned in the 13th century by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set in the Murge landscape, the castle is renowned for its perfect geometric harmony and strong symbolic value, blending elements of astronomy, mathematics and philosophy. Although often described as a fortress, Castel del Monte had no true defensive function and is believed to have served as a place of representation and study, making it one of the most fascinating monuments of medieval Europe.

In the afternoon, the group departed for Umbria. Upon arrival at the hotel—an ancient Cistercian monastery converted into a hospitality structure—the participants enjoyed a traditional dinner in a unique and evocative setting.

In the evening, the group celebrated the 19th birthday of Eliana from the USA, sharing a joyful and festive moment together. A special thank you to Lion Sandra Becostrino, YCEC of District 108L, to Lion Marco Grosso, Director of the District Friendship Camp, and to Stefania Iannucci, member of the District Youth Exchange Committee of District 108L, for their warm welcome and kind hospitality.

Il quinto giorno è iniziato con la visita a Castel del Monte, l’iconico edificio ottagonale fatto costruire nel XIII secolo dall’Imperatore Federico II di Svevia e oggi Patrimonio dell’Umanità UNESCO. Immerso nel paesaggio delle Murge, il castello è celebre per la sua perfetta armonia geometrica e per il forte valore simbolico della sua architettura, che unisce elementi di astronomia, matematica e filosofia. Spesso definito come fortezza, Castel del Monte non aveva in realtà una funzione difensiva, ma rappresentava un luogo di rappresentanza e di studio, rendendolo uno dei monumenti più affascinanti del Medioevo europeo.

Nel pomeriggio il gruppo è partito alla volta dell’Umbria. All’arrivo in hotel, ospitato in un antico monastero cistercense adattato a struttura ricettiva, si è svolta una cena tipica in un’atmosfera suggestiva e ricca di storia.

In serata, i partecipanti hanno festeggiato il 19° compleanno di Eliana, proveniente dagli Stati Uniti, condividendo un momento di gioia e convivialità. Un sentito ringraziamento alla Lion Sandra Becostrino, YCEC del Distretto 108L, al Lion Marco Grosso, Direttore del Campo Distrettuale Amicizia, e a Stefania Iannucci, membro del Comitato Distrettuale Scambi Giovanili del Distretto 108L, per la calorosa accoglienza e l’ospitalità riservata al gruppo.
