The Portal on Central Eastern and Balkan Europe (PECOB) is the first in Italy providing full and selected information about the countries and regions of Eastern, Central Europe, the Balkans and the Post-Soviet space. It is divided into three main sections: an Informative Area, a Business Guide, and a Scientific Library. PECOB Informative Area offers a wide range of continuously updated news regard
ing calls, courses, conferences, exhibitions, cultural events which regard to the geopolitical area under scrutiny, and provides with information about, as well as access to, a large collection of online news resources, academic centres and political institutions based in or dealing with the countries of the region. Finally, it gives information regarding scientific publications (mainly journals and books) dealing with Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. PECOB Business Guide is an innovative instrument to monitor the region from an economic perspective. Besides giving access to websites providing basic information on the economic, financial and business institutions of each country, it offers a selection of quality information, analyses and reports on business topics related to the region produced by both consultants and academics. PECOB Scientific Library constitutes the core of the Portal, as it will collect and offer a wide range of scientific contributions, such as papers, essays, articles, doctoral and Master's theses, dissertations and research projects. This is an area planned to provide an opportunity for scholars, researchers and specialists to collaborate with PECOB in publishing a comprehensive, ever growing collection of scientific materials on various topics (politics, economics, history, society, language, literature, cultural and media studies). Texts can be submitted in English as well as any language of the countries considered on PECOB. All materials submitted for publication on PECOB Scientific Library will pass through a peer review process: positively evaluated theses and dissertations will be given an ISBN code and published on-line, whereas papers and essays will be given an ISSN code and become part of the PECOB’s papers series, provided that they show high scientific relevance and/or innovation in the field of academic research.
